Today’s Recipe: Ooey Gooey Cookies

Ooey Gooey Cookies

PREP TIME: 15 minutes, plus 2 hours chilling
COOK TIME: 10 minutes
MAKES: 36 cookies

Ingredients:

  • 1 box chocolate cake mix
  • 1 egg
  • 1 8 oz package cream cheese, softened
  • 8 T butter, softened
  • 1 t vanilla
  • ¼ cup powdered sugar

Directions:

  1. In a medium bowl, combine cake mix, egg, cream cheese, butter, and vanilla. Mix well. When dough forms into a ball, cover and refrigerate for 2 hours.
  2. Preheat oven to 350°F. Remove dough from refrigerator, and one at a time, begin rolling dough into balls about 1″ in diameter, then roll in powdered sugar. Place on an ungreased cookie sheet and bake for 10 minutes.
  3. Remove cookies from oven and transfer to a wire cooling rack. Using a sifter, sprinkle with powdered sugar.

    LUCKY US! 🙂 My cohort Alicia and I were the recipients of these delicious little snackaroos in the office yesterday. We could not keep our paws off of them! If you make a cookies only once per year, let this recipe be the one. YUM. Thank you 11-year-old REBECCA!

    I decided that I really needed some chocolate cookies and proceeded to make these. I discovered that I did NOT have a chocolate cake mix to used the yellow one and added 1/2 C dutch processed chocolate. They are wonderful. So easy! Next week I will try the recipe with a chocolate cake mix.

    Nancy, that’s great to hear it worked with yellow cake mix too! Oh, we ate so many of these and I could still eat so many more!
