Snap * Crackle * Pop

Beans, beans, magical fruit, the more you eat, the more you …

Pop? These are not your typical beans. First off, they are completely inedible and …

they’re cracklin’ and popping as if their lives depended on it, which they sorta do.

These little whipper snappers coaxed my entire graphic design team outside after we heard mirth coming from Gabe (our computer guru). He said he’d just walked by a bush next to our upper chicken coop and little beans were popping out at him, shooting every which way, several feet, like gun shot.

Everyone assumed it was Gabe finally losing his marbles.

Well, not quite. I was able to tell them all about the snap, crackle, popping Siberian Pea Shrub.

When it starts heating up around here, the seeds get to poppin’ right out of their shells. Then the pods that contained the shooting peas curl up into perfect spirals and fall to the ground, their seeds spent. (Shot forth into the world with a big bang.)

Everyone picked a dozen pods off the shrub to take back to their desks. The rest of the day was all about peas-sized fireworks. As the pods heated up, they’d sound off, hitting the ceiling, computer screens, legs,  arms, noses, chins …

You get the scene. Just another day down on the farm.

When I was a kid and visiting my Mom and Pops farm I would always go find the Touch Me Nots coz they would explode and send out tiny speckes of seeds……my childhood had its magic
