Celebrating Girlfriends

Do I really need to say this again? You’re probably going to fall asleep when I say for the hundredth time, I LOVE holidays. Big or small, I love any excuse to celebrate. Our trusty ol’ MaryJanesFarm Calendar has quite a few lesser-known holidays I’m having fun with this month.

In honor of Friendship Day that happened on August 5 and Girlfriends’ Day last week on August 1, and Best Friends’ Day coming up on August 15, I’m taking one of my …

… craftiest girlfriends on a road trip (August 17 is National Thrift Shop Day—perfect for a road trip).

Bonnie and I met on an airplane when I sat down next to her with a fresh cinnabon. She said, “I can’t believe you haven’t offered me some.” After chatting it up the entire flight, it got a bit awkward when I had to ask her for her phone number at baggage claim. Or wait, did she ask me for mine?  We can’t remember the details or who called who or if we waited the appropriate amount of time before one of us made the first call.  Who knows? Who cares? It was a match made … in the clouds.

Ever since then, we’ve been daydreaming about a trip together. Traveling to a far-off place by plane is high on our list, but for now we’re staying close to home and we couldn’t be more excited. Check out our destination.

So here’s to girlfriends, friendship, best friends, and the month of August for celebrating such things. Stay tuned for September celebrations, things like Good Neighbor Day. Wait, I’m getting ahead of myself. August 26 is Women’s Equality Day and Global Forgiveness Day comes the day after.

Hmmm, how about back to shopping. Let’s call this moment in time, National Boot Moment. Proceed with caution.
