carrotmob

Lean in, girls …

Here’s a nibble of gossip that’s begging for gab:

I hear that a Carrotmob may be coming your way.

Keep your eyes peeled!

I can only imagine what you must be thinking …

A carrot-hurling gang of hoodlums!

Garden raiders!

Is Bugs Bunny behind this?

What’s up, Doc?

Before you take up your garden hoes,

let me explain.

The Carrotmob isn’t about raiding

(or rabbits).

It’s a fabulously fresh initiative that is out to convince businesses to make positive changes by providing incentives.

The philosophy is simple: dangle a carrot—you know the adage.

In a Carrotmob campaign, a group of people offers to spend their money to support a business, and in return, the business agrees to make an improvement that the people care about.

“We are called Carrotmob because we use the ‘carrot’ instead of the ‘stick,'” explains Carrotmob Founder Brent Schulkin. “Traditionally, people who wanted to influence businesses would threaten or attack them. We believe people can have more influence on businesses by giving them a positive incentive to change: our money.”

So, Carrotmob is building a website to make voting with our money easier, more effective, and more fun.

Campaign organizers around the world have already set a growing movement in motion. More than 250 Carrotmob campaigns have launched in over 20 countries.

You want to start your own campaign, don’t you?

Well, motivate a mob, decide how big a carrot you dare to dangle, and take to the streets of your town.

The Carrotmob website has all of the nitty gritty resources and the platform that you’ll need to make it happen.

I love this idea. I try to shop in our local businesses as much as possible. There is this one hardware store that if you need it, they will have it. They will go to their basement to see if they have something if you need it & it isn’t on the floor. I love that about them! Also loved the bunnies!
