SLOPPY JOES

COOK TIME: 20 MINUTES
MAKES: 6 SERVINGS
1 lb lean ground beef
1 small onion, peeled and finely diced (about 3/4 cup)
3 garlic cloves, peeled and minced (about 1 T)
1 t salt
1 t chili powder
1 15-oz can tomato sauce (about 1 3/4 cups)
1 T honey
1 t molasses
6 hamburger buns
1. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef, onion, and garlic, stirring frequently until ground beef is browned.
2. Mix in salt, chili powder, tomato sauce, honey, and molasses. Bring mixture to a simmer, then remove from heat.
3. Serve on hamburger buns.

Add 3 peeled and minced garlic cloves (about 1 T).
Brown over medium heat, stirring frequently.
Add 1 t salt.
Add 1 t chili powder.
Add one 15-oz can tomato sauce (about 1 3/4 cups).
Add 1 T honey.
Add 1 t molasses.
Mix well.
Bring mixture to a simmer, then remove from heat. Serve on hamburger buns.
This looks delicious, Ashley! Minus the garlic for me, I like the simplicity of the ingredients and especially that touch of molasses. Down here in Florida, we like to replace molasses with our local dark cane syrup for a down home regional touch. I think this might be good with ground chicken too, don’t you think?
