  1. Mary Murray says:

My summer in the sun plans are to garden, take day trips with the kids, wrangle goats (hoof trimming is never an easy task!), laugh over chicken races (the girls run back and forth all day), and bake for the local farmers’ market. Toss in trying to make every minute count and create family memories (kids are growing too fast) and summer will fly by. Thanks for the offer…it’s much appreciated!

  2. Joanie Hendricks says:

I am mostly working in my garden on my days off, with breaks to jump in a snow fed river.
I also hope to get up into the mountains at least once, maybe in time for huckleberries!

  3. Benita says:

The summer has already gotten off to a delightful start by visiting my beloved grandparents 89 & 97 years young. They are in the charming town of Walla Walla, Wa that I’ve been visiting for fifty years. I just had my high school BFF come visit my beach shack for a week and then we headed a couple hours northeast for a cabin in the woods, a delightful girls get a way. Oh, the diverse blessing of living in So Cal! Talk about blessings, the grand finish to my summer will be having my twin sons and one of their girlfriends fly out for my birthday. Lots of sunscreen will be needed for our trips to the beach and back up that mountain! Only organic will do for this holistic esthetician!!
Wishing everyone a joyous summer!! 🌴🌞🌊🌊

  4. Barbara Burch says:

Missouri weather is ever changing and now heat and humidity are settling in. I am reducing the lawn to native wildflowers and grasses on our urban property. I’m in the yard from 5:30 AM to 1-2 PM most every day. Before my apron goes on I lather up with sunscreen. We’ll be headed out to our farm this weekend to pick blackberries and target shoot. Can’t get enough fresh air and sunshine!

  25. Cathy Stewart says:

Down on the farm we could use some organic sunscreen while tending the ducks, chickens, goats, and horses. Our short summers are sunny and hot, but always appreciated after the long snow winter. Even the animals seem to know to enjoy the sun while they can here in N. Idaho, but thankfully have hair and feathers for protection.

Since I live on a farm, my summer is taken up with a lots of time in the sun. In our area we have musk thistles (a noxious weed) in the grasslands. 50. Susan simons says:

The very best, most gratifying and reflective days are the ones I spend at home, either in our 117 year old home and our 3/4 acre of vegetables and flowers. Like friends I know, we grew into adults in the 1960’s but we have all found our place to rest.
On a day like that, I can leisurely work on the many unfinished projects in my rec room, ranging from cherished photos waiting to be dressed in scrapbook pages, or sewing projects needed to be completed. That is the beauty of retirement.
There is a dappled green, ancestral land calling to me and my husband and I will be there soon. The sun today is dazzling, perfected by a cooling breeze, but in September we will be in enchanting Ireland, almost a half a world away.
Each sunny day, I count each day closer to our trip, but I am also reluctant to let go of these golden days spent in my gardens and taking late afternoon walks with our three doggies. Our children are grown and these doggies take their place as our kids!
So, I will spend my summer partially in the moment but also dreaming of the September to come. How God has blessed us so each day with a place of retreat and peace we so enjoy.
