  4. Brooke Zimmerman says:

Gardening & camping are our go-to summer activities! We are blessed with fun camping places that are relatively close, with fun places to swim when it’s hot! Unfortunately, our garden is not quite as blessed, because we have several neighborhood bunnies that like our plants as much as we do!!!

  5. Phyllis Fekula says:

I’m planning to take our family of 6 to a picnic on the beach sometime in late August, after I’ve healed from my surgery.

  6. Sandra Abalos says:

My summer in the sun plans include a few more tomato-picking mornings, watering the cantaloupe & melon patch & relaxing in the gazebo with a cold glass of minty iced tea!

Getting ready to go tent camping with my children and grandchildren…this is our 30th plus years of camping at Priest Lake in northern Idaho. The experience is most rewarding part of our summer’s it’s a lot of work but also a lot of fun..when I was a single mom raising 6 kids now I’m a single grandma with 12 grandchildren tent camping was all I could afford and we have the best of times in the beautiful campground surrounding PriestLake…Love your magazine and this newest issue will be my camping reading material..

  9. BarbaraJean Smith says:

I plan to keep ahead of weeds in the garden. Full time job. If anyone knows where to get one of those seeders with the scythe like head please let me know

  10. Grace R. says:

Go see my granddaughters and go with them to Busch Gardens, and my son of course.

  11. Joyce Huber says:

No summer vacation for me. I’ll be canning pickles from my garden. I will be using our pedal boat in our pond.

  12. Regina Reynolds says:

I will be sharing fun under the sun with students and neighbors in the Millburn School and Community Garden. We will be building a butterfly garden spot and learning how to keep ourselves healthy out in the sun. Butterflies need spots to rest and get hydrated near the plants they seek. My helpers will learn the same. Looking forward to quiet moments observing these lovely pollinators.

  13. Julie Perry says:

Well I’m at our annual church camp this summer, which I love very much although I’m missing our grown daughters. So many sweet memories here. I’m hoping to visit my oldest daughter as she resides in Missoula, Montana this summer and is newly trained to be a wildfire fire fighter. She is waiting to be sent out. I also get to go to a cousin’s wedding up in Seattle. Yay!

  14. Sandie Gerken says:

Even though we live 15 minutes from the Atlantic Ocean, we spend one week in July every year in a little beach cottage. Such a great rest and relaxation week….no shoes, no hairdo, no bra….just basking in the sun (under our umbrella), the surf, reading, eating great food, and relaxing…..full of gratitude for the wonderful life God has graced me with…and completely aware of the awesome experience of being near the ocean. This is my summer plan again for 2017.

  15. J. Devine says:

Lots of time in the garden, playing in the yard with my granddaughter. Good, non-harming sunscreen is hard to find.

  16. Jana Blackwood says:

My summer in the sun will consist of swimming in my parents pool. My grand-daughter is now 2 and old enough to have some fun, and maybe learn to swim. When we go swimming, there are 4 generations of women (all are related) in the pool. I’m happy to have fun in the sun with my family.

  17. Deborah Cunningham says:

My Summer in the Sun is mostly MOWING the yard, love it especially now since getting my zero turn radios mower. So love the finished manicured yard!! I do sneak away occasionally to the lake for a little relaxation.

  18. Pauline McConnell says:

I love summer so much!!!! I plant an organic vegetable garden, prune fruit trees, fill all my pots with pretty flowers and cover my blueberry bushes so we get a few that the birds can’t get. Our back yard is our little oasis in the heat of Idaho. When it gets too stifling hot, we head to the Oregon Coast and chill in the surf and the sand. There’s so much going on in our neck of the woods, like fireworks displays, country music, greenbelt to ride along with picnics along the way and the Idaho Shakespeare festival that I could be going every day and I mostly do. But the best part of all is sitting in the back yard with a glass of ice water watching all my plants grow!

  19. Nancy Bronson says:

Gardening, clearing trails, cutting winter wood, picking berries, meditating by the pond – all reasons for Coola.

  20. Cindy Stoll says:

Putting on my sunscreen and hat and working outdoors. Flower and vegetable gardening take up a few hour each day. Then we also have over 50 head of cows and along with their calves need to be moved from pasture to pasture and I am lucky to help with that. I am employed by a school, and every summer am just as excited to have summer break and be outside as the students. There is always something to do outdoors on a grain and livestock farm.

  21. Julie says:

We plan to make our annual drive from Colorado to Michigan to spend a month with my family there. The first day we arrive we will celebrate my mother’s 70th birthday with a huge party!

  22. Kathy says:

This summer we plan to camp on the lake by us with our daughter, son -in-law and 4 grandsons. Each morning the wake up they find something special at the places on the table. It is so fun to see their faces each morning. Their favorite gift so far was “fidget spinners!”

  23. SUMMER IN THE SUN PLANS? That being our high desert TRAIL RUNNING shaded by my bright pink NIKE hat and sunscreen protecting my Italian Tatoo, with my water belt while training in our 98′ Nevada heat coupled with our recent fires! And oh, let’s not forget my asthma inhalator♡!

  24. JoAnn Carmichael says:

Continuing to purge my house for downsizing within the next few years is my summer vacation plan. School begins in September, it’s hard to be productive then! I also enjoy my backyard pool, chickens, and many gardens.

  25. Samantha Wallis says:

In always out and about with all my animals. Plus Im in a log yard with my husband. We run a sawmill.

  26. tina marie steinkemper says:

  27. Jill Judge says:

Great giveaway! Love to read it!

  28. mehealani says:

We still have ice storm damage from our winter in the Columbia Gorge. It will take all summer to fix the orchard. About 1/3 is done but there’s only me and my hubby is injured. So I’ve been looking for a good hat one that’s not “one size” and protects and cools. Only 2 acres but a real challenge to balance home/land care and hubby care. The goats and kitty give lots of encouragement. Retirement has been an incorrect adjective though. That’s my summer!

  29. julie veneklasen says:

My summer plans are to spend as much time as possible with my three boy’s ( dogs)! They make me smile everyday.

  30. Nicole L. says:

I live in Florida, so this summer I will be spending a lot of time out in the sun swimming, gardening, and walking with my husband and our three sons. We are also going to the Shenandoah National park for some hiking and rafting. Summer is so much fun! (But isn’t every season?)

  31. Korin says:

This is the first summer our kids wanted to make a “Summer Bucket” list. I love that they have “pick blueberries”, “hike a mountain” and “go swimming in the ocean” on there! It reminds me to be grateful of where we live and who we have to share it with.

  32. Kelli says:

Fishing, and relaxing by the lake with my daughter and friends. Maybe do some camping as well, and I plan on visiting family.

  33. Sara Holzem says:

Hoping that my husband and I can find time to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary by revisiting the stops up in Northern Minnesota where we had our honeymoon. However, with 1 child leaving for college and the other just returned home from completing college…we may only be able to afford a nice meal and a movie!

  34. Judy Mardock says:

Every chance that I can be out in the sun I will be. Some days it will be tending my flower and vegetable gardens and other days it will be lounging with a good book in my hand.

  35. Linda Everson says:

My summer in the sun plans are to go kayaking and ride the bike trails.

  36. Pam Lane says:

Just got back from the Oregon Coast, loved when the sun peaked out and shined on us!

  37. Terry Pfleghaar says:

My sister and I are both Canadian girls who married American boys. I live in Minnesota, and she lives in North Carolina. We (and our hubbies) are going to meet halfway (near Peru, Indiana) and camp together, she in a new travel trailer, me in my 1978 Airstream. The kids will take care of our mini-farm, while ‘Sis and I catch up on the road. I can’t wait!

  38. Vicki Dieter says:

I do lots of biking, and weeding in the garden. Would like to try this.

  39. Kali says:

    Gardening!!:)
