  1. Nancy Haines says:

My fav of all tips is use vinegar to clean with.

Put your stove burner trays that are black enamel to soak in a ziplock bag, covered with vinegar for 45 minutes.

No scrubbing and like new afpgain.

  2. Vinegar, baking soda and a few drops of essential oil make cleaning toilets easy and good smelling! AND the way everything bubbles reminds me of our “volcano” science experiments when I was in grade school. Use an oil that is antibacterial and antifungal like lemon or eucalyptus.

  3. Brendalee Campbell says:

My go to cleaner for everything is called awesome ! I buy it at the dollar store if they’re out then my next is Dawn dish soap blue.If there something better please send it my way

  4. Kim P says:

I have a super busy schedule and two lovely littles to care for and my #1 rule/tip is to keep on top of any origin of odors in the household. Diapers go outside the basement in a separate pail immediately, the toilet is done multiple times a week, dishes are rinsed until they can be washed, garbage containers are secure and brought out promptly (then the cans get sprayed and wiped down before a new bag is put in), the dog gets bathed 1x/month and her bed is washed 2x/month. I use a homemade poopouri in the bathroom of 1 tea rubbing alcohol, 10-20 drops essential oil and water in a small glass sprayer to keep things fresh. When I do the dusting / tidying / etc on the weekend, I’m happy. Things can be untidy, they can be dusty. They just can’t stink! So embarrassing!

  5. Cathy Holton says:

Baking soda is a great multipurpose cleaner.

Lemons rubbed on my wooden counters.

  7. Michelle O says:

Allowing water to “sit” – on stains, baked on food, dirt, etc. Makes for a lot less effort because the strongest element does the work for you!

always clean my bathroom with Dawn and vinagar

  9. Catherine A Webb says:

An appliance repairman told me to use 1/2 alcohol and 1/2 water in a spray bottle to clean stainless steel. Refrigerators, stoves, dishwashers, sinks. Works better then any store bought product. I also would love to try Liquid Sunshine as I am trying to get away from commercial cleaners and want to deep my home smelling fresh as a breeze.

  10. Reagan says:

I use vinegar instead of fabric softener in the machine machine. Still feels fresh and clean, but no chemicals on my clothes and no build up in my machine is a big plus!

  11. Stephanie Robertson says:

I always spray Thieves cleaner in the bath right after I have used it. It smells terrific, and it keeps it clean all the time instead of building up. I would love to try some of this cleaner!

  12. Michaela White says:

for stains on whites that won’t come out in the wash, I soak the spot in lemon juice and let it dry out in the sun, then wash again. It gets lots of old, set stains out that way. 🙂

  13. Marianne Regan says:

I save the fake credit cards you get in the mail to scrape hard water deposits off my counter without damaging the surface.

  14. Linda Pavey says:

When there is a spill or splatter I wipe it immediately befor it dries or hardens.

  15. Loved reading a lot of the cleaning tips that people have posted. I’ve just started cleaning with vinegar too and I love it. my tip is what I bought from QVC, it is the rechargeable scrubber and it is because it has a long handle, it really does do a great job and it saves my back when using it in the bathtub/shower.

  16. Dianna B says:

I use a mixture of dish soap and vinegar to clean with. I use vinegar in the last rinse in my wash. Towels are soft now

  17. Kathleen Fleming says:

I use vinegar for most things: in my laundry instead of softener, on my weeds in the garden, shower, coffee maker, carpets … I do love using baking soda too! But Liquid Sunshine sounds like something I would LOVE to try. Too much sunshine is always a good thing!

  18. Kathy Young says:

  22. Niki S. says:

I don’t have any tips that have not already been said. I make most of my own cleaning products. I enjoy making them but some times I don’t have time so its nice to have a back up that is safe for using at those times.

  23. Alice Lawson says:

I use vinegar in most of my cleaning jobs. It’s pretty natural and seems to do a good job.

  24. Judy Cole says:

Cleaning the dirty oily residue from caps and hats, I soak the cotton head gear in OxiClean overnight. The dirty and grim is lifted away. Then I wash the garment, let it air dry with a small towel stuffed inside, to retain the original shape.

Clean a little bit every day! Lol.

Use rubbing alcohol to clean faucets. Sines, doesn’t leave spots, and sanitizes as well.

  28. Wanda says:

I like for baseboards and their corners to be clean with anything that is handy and minimal elbow grease. I used to clean like a tornado but can’t do that anymore, so now I like to watch somebody else do it. 😎

  29. tatiana harrison says:

My favorite cleaning tip is for new grease stains on my husband’s work clothes. Soak clothes in Coke a Cola for a few hours or overnight than wash as usual.

  30. Beverly Cruz says:

I’ll give it a try. I hate other chemical smell cleaners. Usually buy lavender smell items.

  31. Clair Malo says:

My favorite is clean as you cook. It keeps the kitchen manageable and you are not buried in dirty pots and pans even before you ever finish dinner.

  32. Gloria Smith says:

I don’t have any special tips. I have learned if you clean on a regular basis no job is too difficult. It’s when I put off cleaning that it seems to become a big chore. I’m going to try several of the suggestions shared by other readers!!

  33. Cindy Rich says:

Not sure if this qualifies, but I like to put my dogs snd cat dishes in the dishwasher once a week for a thorough cleaning and sanitizing. Our animals that live outdoors get a monthly sanitizing of their food and water containers as well with some soapy water and a thorough rinsing. This is my favorite tip because our animals are such a big part of our family and need to be cared for just like us humans!

  34. janamarieje says:

My best cleaning tip is something I found on Pinterest to clean the hard to clean scum on your bathtub. Spray the non-heat Easy Off Oven Cleaner on your tub and let it sit for 10 minutes, lightly scrub, rinse and voila you tub looks like new. I would love to switch over to an organic cleaner that would be safer for family, pets and the environment.

  35. Tammi says:

I know there are a lot of comments about vinegar already, but this is my mainstay. I put half vinegar, half filtered water, and a few drops of dawn dish soap in a spray bottle. This works on most everything. My other favorite thing to do is to put about 1/2 cup of baking soda in the washing machine to help brighten and clean the more heavy duty loads. I also put vinegar in the rinse cycle, it helps to soften the clothes and take out any funky smells (especially jeans).

I’d love to try these products! I like that you have endorsed them and LOVE the name!!

  38. Kathy Rowe says:

This is a tip I discovered years ago. Had a spaghetti stain on a blouse and could not get it out. Thought about the Dawn commercials getting grease out, so I tried a few drops of original Dawn on the spot and, sure enough, the stain came out.
Liquid Sunshine would be a great product to win. Sounds like a multi purpose product that would be very helpful around the house in many ways.

  39. Melanie Deyton says:

I love to use baking soda, water and newspaper to clean windows and showers!

  40. April Guilbault says:

Ok…weird tip of the day for a super-duper-kid-clogged-I’m-so-grossed-out-by-cleaning-toilets tip….Pour a few cupfuls of hot water into the toilet bowl, then a few squirts of dish detergent. Let it sit for about 45 minutes….flush! Slip slide away!! No plungers, no toxic chemicals, no pricey plumbers! You’ll be a happy Mama 🙂

  41. Janice says:

Baking soda, dishwashing liquid and vinegar sparkles a tub!

My favorite cleaning tip is when I go to clean my windows I use vinegar and newspaper instead of the chemical filled cleaners and my windows have no streaks left of any kind when using this combination!! Plus I recycle the paper too!

  45. Roksanna says:

I’m very into green cleaning…vinegar, baking soda, lemon, salt, and of course non-florinated water.

  46. Patricia Stover Hobbs says:

I use baking soda, vinegar and hydrogen peroxide for most of my cleaning. When it come to wood though, I use Murphy’s oil soap. Great for cleaning floors and even inside of your vehicle! Baking soda goes on carpet, in washer, in water mixed with cleaner, in dish water to help soap.

  47. Marianne Dent says:

I struggled for years to get streakless clean windows until I started using alcohol and water mix. Could not believe how great it worked! No more frustration!

  48. Helena Berg says:

Vinegar water with some thieves essential oil for most cleaning. Hydrogen peroxide works well for surfaces and also for stain treatment.

  49. Catherine Havens says:

Microwave a wet rag or sponge (which also disinfects them) for 30 seconds. Let the rag/sponge sit for a few minutes to cool off in the mircrowave and then clean the microwave so much easier without harmful chemicals!

  50. Terri Hopler says:

My favorite cleaning tip is to make a sink full of piping hot water as I begin to prepare a meal. That way as I dirty the measuring cups and dishes, I just rinse and put them in the sink so the hot water can begin to do its magic while I continue cooking.
