A monthly membership to Seamwork offers patterns, hacks, ideas, and inspiration to help you craft the clothes you want to wear. For a chance to win a FREE one-month, premium Seamwork membership, tell me about one of your favorite sewing projects in the comments below (I recently taught my grandgirls how to use an electric sewing machine and they made doll blankets–I loved every minute of it). I’ll toss your name into a hat and draw a lucky winner sometime mid-December.

Stay tuned for more magazine-related giveaways. If you’re not yet a subscriber to my magazine, MaryJanesFarm, subscribe here for $19.95/year.

  1. Laura Yates says:

I loved sewing things for my kids as they grew up! I still love to sew, so much that we bought an old gas station and turned it into a gift store.

  2. Linda Pavey says:

I enjoy making custom dolls, microwaveable bowl holders, bread basket liners and most recently thread catchers.

  3. ALICE RAY says:

My first attempt at sewing, was for my doll, I got in a lot of trouble, I got in my Dads drawer, and took his handkerchiefs! (already hemmed , don’t you know) That prompted my Mom to save fabric scraps for me. Really , before I used needle and thread. I used scotch tape ! Over the years I am now 80, I have a sewing life that includes many garments, crafts, and things for my home. I also have taught myself to tune up sewing machines , so they sew a fine seam ! all lead to a very creative life.(and I’m not done yet!)

  4. Julia Krout says:

for me right now is making pillows from a recently deceased friends’ favorite tops for her daughter to have something to hold onto as she misses her mom.

  5. Teri Schneider says:

My favorite sewing project was a quilt I made for my best friend that moved to Alaska and lived there for 6 years. I missed her terribly, so I made a quilt that had polar bears and moose on it and it seemed to soothe the ache of missing her while I worked on it.

  6. Jennifer Duncan says:

My favorite sewing project was a sundress I made when I signed up for sewing classes to learn how to use the sewing machine my husband purchased for me. The dress turned out beautifully and I wore it quite a bit and with pride.

  7. Tara says:

Just finished an 18th century, completely hand sewn, outfit for our towns historic Yulefest. Turned out beautifully.

  8. Jaci Chambers says:

I started to teach my daughter how to sew years ago, and she caught on so fast I put her in a sewing class! She has gone once a week for three years, and at the current age of 11, has made so many wonderful things (3 jelly rolls, stuffed animals for her siblings, many items of clothing for herself, a few sets of hot pads for me and much more), and now has dreams to be a fashion designer!

  9. DeNise says:

I like to make my own home furnishings for “recycled” furniture. I make cushions, recover upholstered seats on chairs and make curtains. I have an old White sewing machine I bought for $100 when my husband (now deceased) and I were starting out in life. That is 38 years ago! I made clothes, costumes and curtains, blankets and so much more for my daughter. Now my daughter is pregnant with her first child and that White sewing machine is working for her making a baby quilt! I love my sewing machine!

  10. Tess Yocum says:

I love wearing dresses. Unfortunately I have a hard time finding modest dresses in stores. I am always in look out for patterns.

  11. Sherri Winters says:

Can’t wait to read this magazine 💕

  12. Tywana Jackson Lambert says:

I enjoyed making matching shirts for my brother and his family to wear to the Louisiana Municipal Association annual conference. The theme focused around promoting Louisiana products, so quite naturally a fabric was selected that was patterned with crawfish and the fleur de lis.

  13. Star Ragan says:

I have a butterfly quilt I made for my mother. I guess you would call it a Hap as I tied it. Although I gave it to her toward the end of her life, it is one of the proudest items I have made.

  14. Carrie Williams says:

I have been sewing since I was very young, starting with clothes for my dolls and working up to clothes for myself as a teenager, and eventually clothes and costumes for my children. One of my fondest sewing memories, however, was the year I made three aprons on the treadle sewing machine I had just been given. I had never used a treadle machine so the whole project was a learning experience, but by the time i finished I was stitching like a pro! The three aprons came out perfect, too: one gifted to a young bride, another for a “mature” bride, and one for me, of course 😊

  15. Glenna Preston says:

Currently making a photo quilt for me daughter. I am hand piecing it and will hand quilt when I get the top together. It’s for a king size bed so it will take awhile … lol

  16. Andrea Deardorff says:

One of my most memorable sewing projects was making the same quilt along with my mother and a best friend. We were inspired by the front cover of a quilting magazine. We took a picture of our finished quilts and were published later in that magazine.
