My featured Merit Badge Awardee of the Week is … CJ Armstrong!

CJ Armstrong (ceejay48, #665) has received a certificate of achievement in Outpost for earning an Expert Level Glamping Merit Badge!

“My daughter and I call ourselves the “4871 Glamping Farmgirls” and have taken our glamping setup on the road more than once. Our locations in 2012 were:
-Black Canyon City, Arizona, in March
-Priest Gulch, Colorado, in July
-Flagstaff, Arizona, in September

Each time, we set up a 10×10 EZ-UP canopy and glamped it with all kinds of pretties. We also set up a nice tent with a screened porch and glamped it as well, including lace all along the edge of the rain fly, around the edge of the porch opening, etc. Continue reading

FOUND: glamping project in the making

Lookie what we found—someone meeting up with my glamping fabric for the first time …
 …………………………
Have you met GLAMPING?
Glamping is the debut line from MaryJane Butters for Moda Fabrics.
She mixes glamour and camping in this fabric line.
So, remember a while back when I showed you my fabric crush … Glamping by MaryJane? I just couldn’t let it sit there! I really intended to stop with that because it was late and I had a long day ahead of me, but I just started to cut:

glampin’ tote … like tote-ally

Check out this tote that Pippa, of Pippa’s Patch, made out of my glamping fabric.
Just fab, darlin’!

Glamping Sites to visit in 2013: 1 of 15

Now that you’ve read my book, Glamping with MaryJane, you need to find a fabulous place to get your glamp on.

Here’s the first installment of 15 places in the U.S.A. (There are more, but I figure 15 will get you dreamin’ out loud.)

Cherry Wood Breakfast & Barn
Washington

Because who doesn’t want to stay in a tepee? These glowing bungalows in Yakima, Washington, are filled with cozy beds and are available April thru early October. Along with barbeque grills, compact refrigerators, separate super-clean and private water closets, open-air showers round out the amenities.

Have you ever been on a winery tour via horseback? Giddyup and sip up! Ride on an all-day tour, with your horse or theirs, to the local wineries, including a stop for lunch at Cultura Winery.

Mannerly dogs are welcome for $20 a night, but leave the kids at home, this is a working ranch. Your pup will get their own special bed beside yours, and a safe secure kennel to stay in while you’re on the wine trail.

And, while you’re at it (you’re on vacation after all), restore yourself in a twilight tub. Warm soothing waters, delicately scented bath salts, a gentle breeze through the willows, and nothing but the wide open skies above.
Take in the sunset, watch the moon rise or gaze at the stars – there’s no better way to end a day in the wine country of Washington. Outdoor bathing is an extra $35 / person per hour.

You’ve Got Mail

“I just found your website and I can’t wait to scour it with a fine tooth comb! I started renovating a 1972 Frolic last spring and I am planning to finish up the work this spring. Still trying to get to the bottom of a bathroom leak before I button the inside work up and move to the outside. Can’t wait to paint her pink and white. Thought you might want a sneak peak of my work, so I’ve included a few photos of my renovation.

I’ve also included a link to photos I took of all the vintage campers at the Tin Can Tourists Vintage Camper Show that was in the Finger Lakes last fall. Great inspiration! Looking forward to celebrating International Glamping Weekend with the rest of the girls!”

WINNERS! Glamping Book Giveaway #5 – glampin’ grins

This is it, my glorious glampin’ darlin’s! Our last giveaway of my new book, Glamping with MaryJane.

We all know how things can go … umm … not-exactly-as-planned when you’re on the road. Flat tires, problematic potty situations, the wrong color nail polish. Stuff happens!

For instance … let’s say you’re on the road for 12 days (living large in your tricked-out Airstream) and your
