{"id":1136,"date":"2013-11-17T00:09:55","date_gmt":"2013-11-17T08:09:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.raisingjane.org\/journal\/?p=1136"},"modified":"2013-11-17T00:09:55","modified_gmt":"2013-11-17T08:09:55","slug":"piffle","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.raisingjane.org\/journal\/1136","title":{"rendered":"ton-of-fun"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\t\tI went looking for a word I&#8217;ve shared here before.\u00a0A word I can say when my lips are pursed (it&#8217;s been one of those days), when I have that LOOK on my face; when my leg is being pulled or my arm twisted.<\/p>\n<p>Piffle.<\/p>\n<p>For those of you who think this is just nonsense, you couldn\u2019t be more right. Piffle as a noun is trivial nonsense.\u00a0As a verb it means to talk or act in a trivial, inept, or ineffective way.\u00a0Piffled and piffling are acceptable variations.<\/p>\n<p>Piffle is not only a word to know and to write, it\u2019s also good to SAY. Put your nose slightly in the air and say it with me. Piffle.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe chickens are hungry? Piffle! They\u2019ve been scratching in the wheat field all morning.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>When speaking to recalcitrant teenagers one could say, \u201cStop piffling; the cow will not milk itself.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Piffle is a ton-of-fun to say and is the reason TVs get turned off and politicians get tuned out.<\/p>\n<p>I encourage you to know your piffle, to call out, Piffle! and share your piffle with me\u00a0if you&#8217;d care to.
