Great as a dinner-party appetizer.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"growing_jane-stuffed_dates-0247\" src=\"http:\/\/www.raisingjane.org\/journal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/growing_jane-stuffed_dates-0247.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"360\" height=\"240\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>STUFFED DATES<br \/>\nPREP TIME: 45 MINUTES<br \/>\nCOOK TIME: 10 MINUTES<br \/>\nMAKES: 1 LB<\/p>\n<p>\u00bc\u00a0\u00a0 cup walnuts<br \/>\n1\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0lb fresh dates<br \/>\n2\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0egg whites<br \/>\n1\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0cup powdered sugar<\/p>\n<p>1. Fill a small saucepan with water and bring to a boil. Fill a small bowl with ice water and set aside.<br \/>\n2. Once the water is boiling, add walnuts and blanch them for about 45 seconds. Immediately drain them in a colander and transfer to bowl of ice water. After walnuts have cooled, drain them and begin peeling off the skins. After all the walnuts are peeled, finely chop them.<br \/>\n3. Preheat oven to 325\u00b0F. Cut dates in half lengthwise and remove the pits. Arrange dates on a baking sheet.<br \/>\n4. To prepare the filling, beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form in a stand mixer or medium bowl. Gently fold in the powdered sugar, and then fold in the walnuts.<br \/>\n5. Fill a pasty bag with mixture, and fill each date.
