What if, as a kid, you could have flaunted it, flown it like a kite, and spurred a trend toward a kinder tomorrow?<\/p>\n<p>What if \u2026<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>We may not be able to turn back the clock, but <em>what if<\/em> we now pass the torch to our kids?<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m convinced that farmgirls can fuel a fad that&#8217;ll sweep schools across the nation.<\/p>\n<p>Believe it, modern mammas, you <em>are<\/em> that cool!<\/p>\n<p>All you need is a tool.<\/p>\n<p>A gizmo, a gadget \u2026<\/p>\n<p>Oh yeah, an app!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">That&#8217;s right, there&#8217;s an app to help kindle kindness in kids.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_14733\" style=\"width: 370px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-14733\" class=\"size-full wp-image wp-image-14733\" title=\"growing_jane-kind_kid\" src=\"http:\/\/www.raisingjane.org\/journal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/growing_jane-kind_kid.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"360\" height=\"241\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-14733\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo courtesy of SCASvenskaCellulosaAktiebolaget \/WikimediaCommons<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Every day, <a href=\"http:\/\/itunes.apple.com\/us\/app\/aok4kids-acts-kindness-for\/id438346104?mt=8&amp;ign-mpt=uo%3D2\">Kind Kids<\/a> suggests a random act of kindness that kids can do for themselves, friends, family, teachers, their community, or the environment.<\/p>\n<p>Kids can promise to complete the suggested act or pick again to receive a different idea.<\/p>\n<p>Occasionally, a &#8220;gold star&#8221; act will appear. These acts take a little extra effort and are rewarded with a special gold star. In addition, when a certain number of kind acts have been completed, the child earns a bronze, silver, or gold heart.<\/p>\n<p>With an internet connection, kids can see how many acts have been done in total by all children using the app and add their own acts to the grand total.<\/p>\n<p>Popularity through kindness?<\/p>\n<p>Positively possible.<\/p>\n<p>And that&#8217;s a fad that makes sense, even to an &#8220;old school&#8221; farmgirl like me.\t\t<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>You and I see eye-to-eye.
