They are an enormous amount of work, but the reward is a wonderful community experience\u2014time to connect with new and old friends, take home plenty\u00a0of fresh produce, and shop for\u00a0a plethora of handmade treasures.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Our first Farm Fair took place in 2004, followed by two more in 2005 and\u00a02006. We took a brief hiatus, then held another Farm Fair in 2009.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">I chose one of my favorite holidays to celebrate rural life and Independence Day. Naturally, I thought a jaunt down memory lane was appropriate. U-pick booths were set up in the gardens for strawberries, flowers, garlic scapes, and fresh peas. We even had a horseshoe tournament in the strawberry patch!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image wp-image-17564\" title=\"giving-back-farm_fair10\" src=\"http:\/\/www.raisingjane.org\/journal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/giving-back-farm_fair10.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"360\" height=\"240\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image wp-image-17562\" title=\"giving-back-farm_fair4\" src=\"http:\/\/www.raisingjane.org\/journal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/giving-back-farm_fair4.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"360\" height=\"480\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">These little tykes were all passed out after a hard day of picking fresh produce and playing in the fields.
