{"id":22599,"date":"2012-09-15T00:08:02","date_gmt":"2012-09-15T07:08:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.raisingjane.org\/journal\/?p=22599"},"modified":"2012-09-15T00:08:02","modified_gmt":"2012-09-15T07:08:02","slug":"in-pursuit-of-happiness","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.raisingjane.org\/journal\/22599","title":{"rendered":"In Pursuit of Happiness"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\t\tHave you ever heard of the city of <em>Solla Sollew<\/em>?<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s on the banks of the beautiful River Wah-Hoo, where they<em> never <\/em>have troubles \u2026<\/p>\n<p>at least, very few.<\/p>\n<p>If you&#8217;re a Dr. Seuss fan (and, really, who isn&#8217;t?), then you may know the place I&#8217;m talking about.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Seuss&#8217; book, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Had-Trouble-Getting-Solla-Sollew\/dp\/0394800923\/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1347564449&amp;sr=8-1&amp;keywords=solla+sollew\"><em>I Had Trouble in Getting to Solla Sollew<\/em><\/a>, chronicles the quirky quest of a frustrated fellow who braves a perilous path toward the horizon of happiness.<\/p>\n<p>So, what do you think\u2014is it out there?<\/p>\n<p>The horizon of happiness, I mean.<\/p>\n<p>At one time or another, I think we&#8217;ve all entertained notions of greener pastures somewhere out past the perimeters of, well, HERE.<\/p>\n<p>But, you have to wonder if there are actually happier places \u2026 or are certain folks just able to conjure contentment no matter where they are?<\/p>\n<p>One man hopped the fence and launched his own mission to find out.<\/p>\n<p>Seasoned NPR correspondent Eric Weiner traveled the world a few years ago in hot pursuit of happiness, gathering up bits of wit, wisdom, and wonder along the way.
