It has been life changing. I cannot believe how much she&#8217;s learned in just one short month. And, most important, how much she loves it. She picks out her little outfits\u00a0each morning, requests different types of braids most days, and then off she goes. When she gets home, she is\u00a0so eager to do her homework that we\u00a0work on it right away. We&#8217;ve\u00a0set up a chalkboard in the living room so she can pretend she is the teacher. She has an entire class of well-behaved stuffed animals and dolls.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>With\u00a0only two kiddos at home, I am in awe of her teacher&#8217;s abilities to teach and\u00a0love an entire room full of children. Every day.<\/p>\n<p>A friend from our little town of Moscow, Idaho is the school counselor at the school that is across the street from the United States Embassy in Tunisia that was attacked September 14.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/8LlypXTMUrk\" frameborder=\"0\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>In honor of World Teachers&#8217; Day\u00a0today, I am reminded how small our world is. I am reminded what a privilege it is to learn and to have teachers\u00a0willing to teach. Half a world away, teachers surrounded by\u00a0chaos, sat down, dusted off\u00a0books, smiled, and got ready for another day.<\/p>\n<p>The amazing teachers of the world are in my thoughts today and, specifically, those relocating to a lunch room so\u00a0they can still offer the kind of joy to their students that is offered to my\u00a0kindergartner every day.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image wp-image-24455\" title=\"teachers\" src=\"http:\/\/www.raisingjane.org\/journal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/teachers.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"360\" height=\"509\" \/>\t\t<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Our little Stella started school this fall.
