This particular\u00a0tree can grow as much as 6-10 feet taller per year.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">I planted six of them some 10-12 years ago\u00a0as a windbreak and shade for my wood\u00a0shop. Dubbed the &#8220;tree from Australia\u201d (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.kellytreefarm.com\/windbreaktrees\/ausee.html\">Austree<\/a>),\u00a0they&#8217;re a hybrid willow that grows MIGHTILY! (If you&#8217;re in need of a quick shade tree, check out their website.) They&#8217;re a fantastic wind and snow break, only they grow <em>soooo<\/em> fast, mine were actually tearing up the foundation of the building AND making our homegrown cooperative power company nervous. (This past winter, the trees shorted out our electrical transformer. The sparks they were a flyin&#8217;.) An Austree is supposed to top out at 40 feet, but mine didn&#8217;t get the memo to stop\u2014they just kept reaching for the sky.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image wp-image-24725\" title=\"trees-0156\" src=\"http:\/\/www.raisingjane.org\/journal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/trees-0156.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"360\" height=\"505\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">It was sad, but they had to go.
