When we were babies, she gave us a book all about the city. It was part of a whole series of children&#8217;s books about different cities across the world. We LOVE our NYC book.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image wp-image-35023\" alt=\"5155n3D6ESL._SY300_\" src=\"http:\/\/www.raisingjane.org\/journal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/5155n3D6ESL._SY300_.jpg\" width=\"214\" height=\"300\" \/>We\u00a0took it with us so we could visit some of the places illustrated in our book.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image wp-image-35024\" alt=\"Subway\" src=\"http:\/\/www.raisingjane.org\/journal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/Subway.jpg\" width=\"460\" height=\"259\" \/><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>We caught the subway at 59th Street and Lexington down to 33rd Street and Park Avenue. Then we took the longest elevator ride we&#8217;ve ever been on &#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image wp-image-35027\" alt=\"empire state raes\" src=\"http:\/\/www.raisingjane.org\/journal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/empire-state-raes.jpg\" width=\"460\" height=\"259\" \/><\/p>\n<p>to the top of the world! Or rather, the top of the Empire State Building.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image wp-image-35028\" alt=\"Empire State Building girls\" src=\"http:\/\/www.raisingjane.org\/journal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/Empire-State-Building-girls.jpg\" width=\"342\" height=\"460\" \/>You know you&#8217;re an Idaho girl when the people around you\u00a0complain because it started to snow and &#8220;ruin&#8221; the view. But all we could think about\u00a0was how cool it was to be up that high and have it ALSO snow on us!!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image wp-image-35029\" alt=\"Empire State view\" src=\"http:\/\/www.raisingjane.org\/journal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/Empire-State-view.jpg\" width=\"460\" height=\"259\" \/>Beautiful snowy city!!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image wp-image-35030\" alt=\"cab ride\" src=\"http:\/\/www.raisingjane.org\/journal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/cab-ride.jpg\" width=\"460\" height=\"345\" \/>The next day, we took a taxi cab to 79th Street and Central Park West. Sorry for the blurry photograph. A cab ride in the city might be more exciting than a roller coaster.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image wp-image-35031\" alt=\"museum\" src=\"http:\/\/www.raisingjane.org\/journal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/museum.jpg\" width=\"259\" height=\"460\" \/>The New York City Museum of Natural History was awesome.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image wp-image-35032\" alt=\"dinosaur bones\" src=\"http:\/\/www.raisingjane.org\/journal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/dinosaur-bones.jpg\" width=\"224\" height=\"460\" \/>We spent hours running from exhibit to exhibit. I am learning about dinosaurs in school, so the TRex was my favorite. The life-size humpback whale was also awesome.<\/p>\n<p>Then we wandered back to our hotel room\u00a0for some Patsy&#8217;s Pizza and a good night&#8217;s rest for another day in the city.\t\t<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>One of our aunties attended college in New York City.
