Emporia, Kansas is where Lucas and I spent our newlywed year.\u00a0Of course, it was all love and roses that first year, so Kansas was pretty darn good to me.\u00a0En route to our event the first week in May, we made sure to stop along my old stomping grounds.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image wp-image-37983 aligncenter\" alt=\"get_out-kansas-1698\" src=\"http:\/\/www.raisingjane.org\/journal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/get_out-kansas-1698.jpg\" width=\"360\" height=\"479\" \/><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Below is the first street we lived on, a cobblestone street, totally old-school!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image wp-image-37985 aligncenter\" alt=\"get_out-kansas-1720\" src=\"http:\/\/www.raisingjane.org\/journal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/get_out-kansas-1720.jpg\" width=\"360\" height=\"503\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image wp-image-38167 aligncenter\" alt=\"get_out-kansas-21738\" src=\"http:\/\/www.raisingjane.org\/journal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/get_out-kansas-21738.jpg\" width=\"360\" height=\"478\" \/>The name of our street was a comfort, being so far from home.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image wp-image-37991 aligncenter\" alt=\"get_out-kansas-1752\" src=\"http:\/\/www.raisingjane.org\/journal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/get_out-kansas-1752.jpg\" width=\"360\" height=\"494\" \/><\/p>\n<p>And here is our first house, in a pretty light blue. It was white when we owned it. The first thing I did was paint the kitchen red. Wonder if it&#8217;s still red?<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image wp-image-37988 aligncenter\" alt=\"get_out-kansas-21733\" src=\"http:\/\/www.raisingjane.org\/journal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/get_out-kansas-21733.jpg\" width=\"360\" height=\"518\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Lots of beautiful houses line the street. We are still in touch with some our wonderful neighbors. If you ask me, a great bunch of folks inhabit Kansas.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image wp-image-37997 aligncenter\" alt=\"get_out-kansas-1762\" src=\"http:\/\/www.raisingjane.org\/journal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/get_out-kansas-1762.jpg\" width=\"360\" height=\"242\" \/><\/p>\n<p>And plenty of patriotism around every corner!
