Boston is home to an abundance of national treasures, major events in U.S. history and architecture that will leave you drooling. From the beautiful brick buildings, stunning steeples, the historic Faneuil Hall, scenic Boston Harbor, legendary Harvard Square, and shop-filled Newberry Street, is there anything better than Boston in the fall?<\/p>\n<p>Take it from here, Aly!!!!!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3887\" title=\"geography-boston-0836\" src=\"http:\/\/www.raisingjane.org\/journal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/geography-boston-0836.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"324\" height=\"432\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>I just missed the fall foliage \u2026 maybe by a week or two. The leaves showed the first hint of their upcoming colors, but not in that famous full-fledged New England way \u2026 not yet.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3888\" title=\"geography-boston-0895\" src=\"http:\/\/www.raisingjane.org\/journal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/geography-boston-0895.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"288\" height=\"384\" \/>That said, my trip to Boston was nearly perfect in every other way.<\/p>\n<p>Being from the west coast, I keenly appreciate the head start on history the east coast so brilliantly boasts about. Tara, a recent graduate of Harvard, works in the University\u2019s prestigious museum. So, with numbers \u2026 comes variety. At Greg\u2019s urging, and through the generosity of the kitchen, we were treated to an antipasto platter, gnocchi with mushroom, peas and truffle oil, shrimp panzanella salad, spicy tomato soup and heirloom tomatoes \u2026 and that was the first course!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3967\" title=\"geography-boston-0864\" src=\"http:\/\/www.raisingjane.org\/journal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/geography-boston-0864.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"360\" height=\"270\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Our entrees ranged from polenta with wild boar to braised beef cheeks with baby turnips to lamb with fennel and potatoes to pasta with rabbit and a simple bowl of spicy pasta.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3964\" title=\"geography-boston-0886\" src=\"http:\/\/www.raisingjane.org\/journal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/geography-boston-0886.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"288\" height=\"384\" \/><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3966\" title=\"geography-boston-0891\" src=\"http:\/\/www.raisingjane.org\/journal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/geography-boston-0891.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"360\" height=\"270\" \/><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3965\" title=\"geography-boston-0881\" src=\"http:\/\/www.raisingjane.org\/journal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/geography-boston-0881.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"360\" height=\"270\" \/><\/p>\n<p>And, in between it all, fresh baked bread, whipped ricotta, fig jam, bread sticks and champagne and wine \u2026 and some more wine.<\/p>\n<p>We were stuffed \u2026 sick \u2026 delirious \u2026 each of us fast approaching a food coma. So, of course, we ordered dessert!<\/p>\n<p>I was thrilled to see the menu included one of my favorites; affogato (which means \u201cdrowned\u201d in Italian). It\u2019s so simple \u2026 so delicious. The perfect punctuation mark on this epic meal.
