Where are you? Route #66, of course. Oh, and it&#8217;s 1952.<\/p>\n<p>This historic scenic byway was <em>the<\/em> route of travel from 1926 on, taking travelers from Chicago to Los Angeles, until the Interstate Highway System began construction in 1956.<\/p>\n<p>After stopping to see <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bluewhaleroute66.com\/\">The Blue Whale<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.legendsofamerica.com\/tx-cadillacranch.html\">Cadillac Ranch<\/a>, or the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.route66university.com\/busdir\/gemini.php\">Gemini Giant<\/a>, an overnight stay at a Wigwam Village was the only logical way to end the day.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.wigwamvillage.com\/\"><strong>Wigwam Village Inn #2<\/strong><\/a><br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.wigwamvillage.com\/\"> <strong> Kentucky<\/strong><\/a> <strong>&#8211; Cave City<br \/>\nFour hours from Route #66<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.galerie-kokopelli.com\/wigwam\/\"><strong>Wigwam Village Inn #6<br \/>\n<\/strong><strong>Arizona<\/strong><\/a> <strong>&#8211; <\/strong><strong>Holbrook<br \/>\nAlong Route #66<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Seven Wigwam Villages were constructed between 1936 and the 1950s. Upon patenting the model for his first village, Frank A. Redford felt the word &#8220;wigwam&#8221; was more interesting than &#8220;tepee.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>During its heyday, Wigwam Village #2 boasted having the largest wigwam in the world, which served as the lunchroom.
