Take it away, MBA Jane!!! MJ\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<div>\n<p><span style=\"color: #339966;\">Wondering who I am? I\u2019m Merit Badge Awardee Jane (MBA Jane for short). In my<\/span> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.raisingjane.org\/journal\/10477\">former life<\/a> \u2026<b>\u00a0<\/b><b>\u00a0<\/b><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>For this week\u2019s<a href=\"http:\/\/www.farmgirlsisterhood.org\/badges-fk-recipes.asp\"> Farm Kitchen\/Recipes Expert Level Merit Badge<\/a>, I hosted a lover-ly (channeling Eliza Doolittle) dinner party for my nearest and dearest. But not just your average dinner party, with take-out or delivery pizza, oh no! Never let it be said, farmgirls, that this girl doesn\u2019t know how to party.<\/p>\n<p>And by &#8220;party,&#8221; I mean\u2014of course\u2014eat concoctions made from passed-down family recipes until I burst. I had been collecting the recipes for some time now, preserving them (Get it? Preserves? Like Uncle Ed\u2019s lemon preserves? HA! Just a little Farm Kitchen humor there.), gifting the results, and basically eating myself into a coma. Not really, but it was a close call the weekend I attempted perfecting Great Grandfather\u2019s caramel torte recipe. I mean, let\u2019s face it, some of us have a few more than our fair share, so we\u2019ll be generous. In the words of Cary Grant in <em>Arsenic and Old Lace<\/em>, \u201dInsanity runs in my family. It practically gallops.&#8221;<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_53275\" style=\"width: 370px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-53275\" class=\"wp-image-53275\" src=\"http:\/\/www.raisingjane.org\/journal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/Charles_Green01.jpg\" alt=\"Charles_Green01\" width=\"360\" height=\"261\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-53275\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">&#8216;Christmas Comes But Once A Year&#8217; by Charles Green via Wikimedia Commons<\/p><\/div>\n<p><strong>Gramma Barbie&#8217;s Famous Horseradish Deviled Eggs<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>PREP TIME: 25 MINUTES<br \/>\nCOOK TIME: 20 MINUTES<br \/>\nMAKES: 6 EGGS<\/p>\n<p>6\u00a0eggs<br \/>\n3\u00a0T mayonnaise<br \/>\n1\u00bd\u00a0T prepared horseradish<br \/>\n\u00bc\u00a0t black pepper<br \/>\n\u00bc\u00a0t salt<\/p>\n<p>1. Place eggs in a medium saucepan and cover completely with water. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat; boil for 2 minutes. Remove from heat, cover, and let stand for 10 minutes. Rinse with cold water.<br \/>\n2. Using a sharp knife, cut off the top third of one unpeeled egg. Carefully scoop out both the egg white and yolk from both sides of the shell into a medium bowl, reserving the larger portion of the shell. Repeat with all eggs.<br \/>\n3. Add remaining ingredients to eggs and mash together until smooth.<br \/>\n4. Spoon or pipe mixture into the reserved shells and decorate as desired.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Aunt MJ&#8217;s Glamping Asian Chicken Slaw<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>PREP TIME: 15 MINUTES\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 MAKES: 4 SERVINGS<br \/>\nThis recipe can be made ahead of time and put in your cooler, or it can be assembled at your campsite.<\/p>\n<p>2\u00a0skinless chicken breasts, cooked and diced<br \/>\n4\u00a0cups Napa cabbage, thinly sliced<br \/>\n\u00bd\u00a0cup green onions, thinly sliced<br \/>\n3\u00a0T rice vinegar<br \/>\n2\u00a0T peanut oil<br \/>\n1\u00a0t sesame oil<br \/>\n1\u00a0T fresh ginger, peeled and minced<br \/>\n1\u00a0t sugar<\/p>\n<p>1. In a large bowl, combine chicken, cabbage, and onions.<br \/>\n2. Add remaining ingredients and toss to blend. Add salt and pepper to taste.<br \/>\n3.
