{"id":57519,"date":"2015-08-11T00:09:43","date_gmt":"2015-08-11T07:09:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.raisingjane.org\/journal\/?p=57519"},"modified":"2015-08-11T00:09:43","modified_gmt":"2015-08-11T07:09:43","slug":"farm-anatomy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.raisingjane.org\/journal\/57519","title":{"rendered":"farm anatomy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\t\tAs you\u00a0 might know, I&#8217;ve been happily immersed in the charm of children&#8217;s literature \u2026<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/shop.maryjanesfarm.org\/Moo-n-Over-Main-Street-Metropolis\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-57523 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/www.raisingjane.org\/journal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/childrens-book.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"399\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>(Who knew writing for kids would be THIS much fun?)<\/p>\n<p>While frolicking in this wonderful world of whimsy, I&#8217;ve happened upon some gleefully green pastures, and here&#8217;s one I wanted to share:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.juliarothman.com\/farmanatomy\/#1\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image aligncenter size-full wp-image-57524\" src=\"http:\/\/www.raisingjane.org\/journal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/farm1_rev.jpg\" alt=\"farm1_rev\" width=\"360\" height=\"292\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><em>Farm Anatomy<\/em> isn&#8217;t strictly a children&#8217;s book\u2014the author, Julia Rothman, wrote it to explore the &#8220;curious parts and pieces of country life&#8221; for herself\u2014but its bite-sized nibbles of fact and fancy certainly appeal to the inquisitive kid in all of us.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;From the shapes of squash varieties to the parts of a goat; from how a barn is constructed to what makes up a beehive, every corner of the barnyard is uncovered and celebrated.&#8221; (<em>Amazon.com<\/em>)<\/p>\n<p>Of course, her adorable illustrations capture the interest of even the youngest readers, even if the facts flutter over their heads for now (sneak a peek <a href=\"http:\/\/www.juliarothman.com\/farmanatomy\/#1\"><u>here<\/u><\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>With over 200 pages of fabulous farm trivia, this is the sort of book that can be picked up time and again.
