{"id":59396,"date":"2015-12-29T00:09:16","date_gmt":"2015-12-29T08:09:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.raisingjane.org\/journal\/?p=59396"},"modified":"2015-12-29T00:09:16","modified_gmt":"2015-12-29T08:09:16","slug":"sun-hive","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.raisingjane.org\/journal\/59396","title":{"rendered":"sun hive"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\t\tWe toured a bevy of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.raisingjane.org\/journal\/51550\"><u>beehives around the world<\/u><\/a>\u00a0&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>and found the variety to be voluminous (good word, eh?).<\/p>\n<p>Yet, there always seems to be a glorious stroke of genius cropping up among the ever-inventive community of conscientious beekeepers.<\/p>\n<p>The latest?<\/p>\n<p>German apiarist and sculptor Guenther Mancke presents the Sun Hive, which brings beekeepers another step closer to hives built by bees in nature.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The underlying idea is that by tailoring hives to bees&#8217; natural tendencies, they are apt to thrive and thus, be bolstered against factors causing bee colony collapses,&#8221; explains Kimberly Mok of Treehugger.com. &#8220;The Sun Hive is meant as a conservation method, rather than for lots of honey production.
