Northeasterners gather them in the woods and serve them fresh or boiled with mayonnaise and butter.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tiger Nuts<\/strong><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_59421\" style=\"width: 370px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-59421\" class=\"wp-image-59421 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/www.raisingjane.org\/journal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/Cyperus_esculentus_012-a.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"360\" height=\"240\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-59421\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo by Tamorlan via Wikimedia Commons<\/p><\/div>\n<p>These tasty looking little nuggets aren&#8217;t actually nuts, they&#8217;re the tuberous <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tigernuts.com\/\"><u>roots of the chufa sedge plant<\/u><\/a>. In Spain, they&#8217;re often soaked in warm water before eating and are used to make tiger-nut milk (like almond or cashew milk).
