Those are your Damson plums? I bet they are delicious and my mom always made the best jam when someone gifted her a sack full.

  1. Winnie Nielsen says:

What are these? The leaves look like apple leaves but the fruit looks like a big yellow plum. Some sort of Asian fruit?

    • MaryJane says:

We call them coyote plums. They grow wild here. They are about the size of a big quarter. When you first pop them into your mouth and bite down they’re sweet but around the pit they’re a tad sour so you spit that out and pop another one in:)

  2. Denise says:

These look beautiful. Are they big enough to use for jam or anything?

    • MaryJane says:

You know, I’ve never done a thing with them other than nibble on them whenever I walk by a tree, but I think they’d work up like any other plum for jam and things.

  3. Laura Warnecke says:

My naughty dogs ADORE these (and every other type of plum that they can inhale). I have an ancient orchard nearby and the pair sneak off constantly to eat as many as they can before they get busted!!

Hi MaryJane~ Back just in time to batten down the hatches against Hurricane Matthew! We had a great trip but I was ready to get back home and see my Mr.Bump and sleep in my own bed. Nothing like Home Sweet Home!

    • MaryJane says:

I’m sure Mr. Bump is once again happy. Yes, batten down. My fingers are crossed the storm veers off its projected route.
