precious gifts from a sister

How clever is this gift I received from Sister Sue Potter? She took an older, thick placemat, traced an …

… oven mitt on it and then stitched her new Sisterhood badge on the back of it. She even went so far as to send me a matching placemat so I can log some time on the couch in “stitch” therapy. AND she sent me some of her “Schoolhouse Soaps” wrapped in a vintage hankie that was made using a technique called drawnwork, where tiny threads are pulled from cotton to give it an expensive lace look. This was a turn-of-the-century stitch used on flour sacks by women who couldn’t affort to buy lace. Welcome to the Sisterhood Sue!!!!
