Late last night, Holly and Jamie were still hard at work putting up the MODA booth. Round of applause for such a beautifully designed space!

Color me happy. My favorite color is still MODA.

Yum, dinner is about ready. Fresh-caught fake filet.

Moi.
You know that pondering tilt of the head a person gives a work of art they’ve just completed? Writing about your life is that exactly. You step back, pick up your paint brush, apply a dab of compassion here, a brush stroke of flair over there. Putting your life on canvas allows you to see what your life looks like through the eyes of others.
Going Granny (actually my grandkids call me Nanny) is my best achievement yet! Here’s a phone message my barely two-year grandgirl left for me on my 58th b-day. I guarantee it; this will make your day.

Setting up the Moda booth for the grand opening tomorrow. The theme this year? “MY FAVORITE COLOR IS MODA.” The booth is FULL of color! Here’s a photo of the paint sticks surrounding the booth. Adorable idea.

And then, TA-DA! Color me happy. “Madge, looky there. It’s a real live trailer in the convention center adorned with MaryJane’s new fabric collection—Glamping.”

“And I hear MaryJane will be there on Sunday signing her new book.”

So happy to see the pictures of Glamping on display at Houston Quilt Market!
Moda fabrics rock, and now even more with MaryJane’s line of fabrics, Enjoy the Houston Market and show,

For those of you who couldn’t tune into the show, here are my tips for glamping.
That was pretty neat, congratulations MaryJane. Your banana splits look yummy. I love Hallmark (their cards, keepsakes & their movies!).
Switching gears a little bit here but do you write about (or have you written) anything pertaining to your earliest experiences with outdoor foraging, napping & basic survival skills? Before your Glamping days began & new business? What about during the years you worked out in the woods?
I’m following a train of thought here that may seem convoluted & long but I have an idea?…
No, I haven’t read them yet but just did a search & see both books received excellent reviews. So I promise I will read them after I finish the book I am currently reading which is set in the early 1800’s; non-fiction & loaded with important but extremely detailed footnotes.
As an example: Many things are mentioned in the book I’m presently reading that I’d never heard of before about soil conditioning etc. And again, how surprised & terribly saddened we were (especially my husband) after watching a movie (supposedly true story~which makes it even worse) where an affable, intelligent & financially sound young man decided to quit college & hike across the USA & beyond. The young man went on & carried us through his engaging metamorphosis while traveling, only to be snuffed out by an appetizing Sweet Pea in the end! Why? Why don’t birds & animals get sick from eating Sweet Peas? Is there a secret that desperately hungry hikers should know about like which mushroom or greens are edible? Did you have an emergency kit filled with kind of like an antidote medicine or something natural to counter act a bad foraging decision? Were you schooled in natural medicines for common & uncommon aliments, bites or stings?
Believe we may be making things too complicated & expensive now days. Hoping more things can be remedied with natural ingredients & more things made with materials on hand?
Thank you so much for providing us a link to your Hallmark show! It was wonderful to be able to see you and all the fun you had doing this. Congratulations!!
MaryJane- You are a natural wherever you share your ideas! Thanks for sharing your segment here.

And here they are. The much-awaited, behind-the-scenes photos from my spot on the Hallmark Channel’s new show, Home & Family, hosted by Mark Steines and Paige Davis. Thanks for tuning in:)

Loved the sneak peek behind the scenes. You Idaho gals really ROCKED the show!
I had a great time seeing you “Live and in Person” (well as close as I’ll get for now…until I make it to your B&B).
Hugs,
Laurie
Thanks for the “behind-the-scenes” photos. So-o-o much goes on that we never know about. I think you made an impression that will last the crew for awhile! And now I want to make a campfire & some of the banana splits. They are so-o-o good!!!!
Thanks for the behind the scenes photos because we don’t get the channel so I could not watch. It all sounds like a resounding success for both crew and the audience too! Love those glamping rum toddies.
You are so cute, MaryJane. You need to get your friend, J. P., there with you!
Girl you are getting younger every year. Thanks for sharing. Love you Miss Wilma
Hope you all caught my spot on the Hallmark Channel’s new show, Home & Family, last Friday. We had a fantastic time on set with Mark, Paige, and crew discussing how easy and fun it is to glamp in your backyard. For those of you who couldn’t catch it, stay tuned and we’ll post some clips from the show in the next couple of days. Don’t forget, there’s still time to enter to win the Mountain Rose Herbs Pampered Glamper Kit.
And what’s more?
Wine not, my dear readers.
I have swag for you.

Yes! More to collect for glamping!!!
Cute, cute accessories!!
Let me see–the farm, of course!!!
I would take your farm any day over a glitzy hotel in LA!!
Welcome Home. It is, after all, where the heart is.
News flash!
There’s a must-see movie in the works, girlfriends …
It’s called Girl Rising.
The title grabbed me right from the get-go, and the more I learn about it, the more hooked I become. It’ll be an experience that none of us will want to miss. My passion for thinking globally was renewed recently when Oprah aired re-runs of her interviews of young women for her school in Africa. What they said and how they described their lives and talked about the JOY that education brings them had me sobbing all over again. (This time I recorded it for my daughter and grandgirls to watch.)
Girl Rising was created by the 10×10 global action campaign for girls’ education in order to share the extraordinary stories of 10 girls from 10 countries who are fighting to overcome impossible odds on the road to realizing their dreams of education.

Directed by Academy Award nominee Richard Robbins, the film was also written by 10 celebrated writers and narrated by 10 renowned actresses, including Meryl Streep, Kerry Washington, and Selena Gomez.
That’s what I call star power!
“[We’re] telling a story that might not be captured in a traditional documentary,” says 10×10. “A voice for girls who might otherwise never be heard.”
Girl Rising is scheduled for theatrical release in March 2013, and will also air on CNN and CNN International in May.
But you don’t have to wait that long to get a taste. Head to the 10×10 site today and watch the movie trailer.
Again and again.

If the trailer whets your appetite for more (and I know it will), then dig deeper into 10×10, and get to know what’s going on behind the scenes of the movie.
This incredible organization is all about building worldwide support for girls’ education by spreading the message far and wide, from corporate boardrooms to rural villages, and changing minds about the importance of educating girls.
Why girls?
As if we have to ask!
Research has proven that educated girls dramatically improve the well-being of their families, their communities, and their countries. 10×10 believes that educating girls:
Want to get more involved?
Thanks for all of this wonderful information. On how to help more. And I might add that all of the reasons to support this in Africa apply right here in our own communites where girls weighted down from generations of poverty fare no better. It is the culture of poverty everywhere that must be addressed before families and future generations have an opportunity to advance towards the American dream!
And here, we have arrived for my guest spot on Home & Family, hosted by Paige Davis and Mark Steines! Welcome to Universal City.

First, we start out with a little setup.

How exciting!
Saw you on the show- you look FABULOUS!!! Of course they saved the best for last…had me sitting on the edge of my seat until the END of the show- but of course you were worth the wait! Thank you for all of the inspiration you have brought into my life over the past 3 1/2 years!
Hugs,
Laurie
You and crew must be so very excited!! Thanks for showing us all of what really happens behind the scenes. I love that half house motif. Who would have thought? Clever Hollywood!!
Enjoyed the show and seeing MaryJane.
I also thought Mary Jane rocked! The hosts did a nice job – but Mary Jane was the bomb! Loved the idea with the 5 gallon bucket and diapers. I won’t give it away :o)
is there a video of this show for those of us who cant seem to get out of bed before 10AM???
MaryJane, your appearance on this show was great. Well done. You Rock!
We’ve arrived in Los Angeles! Hollywood! Universal Studios! Sunset Boulevard! Melrose Avenue! Hey, wasn’t that Melrose Place, a nineties soap opera? Hang on a tic, look at that Ford. All I could think was, “What an awesome farm truck!”

And so began the farming scavenger hunt on the drive from the airport to the hotel. That yellow Chevrolet next to it was calling my name.

Hope you have a great time–what am I saying, it sounds like you ARE having a great time!
Enjoy your visit! I wish we got the channel so I could watch on Friday night. Please do a post next week to give us the highlights.
Looks Fabulous- in fact…I’ll take one of everything! LOL
Thanks for sharing the pictures with us! Nice work Holly and Jamie, y’all have fun today!
Hugs,
Laurie
I can’t wait to get some of the material to make some things for my glamper-which is still in the works, just dreaming now!
Looks like fun!! Hope the best for your show. There’s a lot of glampers out there!!
How I wish I could walk though the doors of the convention center and make my way back to the Moda booth. So much to see at QM!!!! Best wishes for your new line of fabric being a SMASH hit! The booth looks great. SO GLAD there is an actual camper in the booth. WooHoo…That MAKES it!!!!!!!!!!
