Fantastic round-table discussions, panelists …

Good morning St. Paul. Here we come! http://www.thecreativeconnectionevent.com/ (Stunning view from my hotel room.)

The first event, a luncheon with three speakers was everything and more. Humor, tears, and all things international. Women are one world! Their business advice and presentations were perfect.
“lay and no play … makes Jane a dull girl” was the title of this piece of artwork I picked up at last Saturday’s Farmers’ Market. The Artist is Julene Ewert, http://www.presentbydesign.com/ who recently graduated from the University of Idaho with a degree in graphic design.
(Psst, she grew up in a small town in a family of artists. She said her inspiration comes from nature.)
Not only did I love the title of this piece, but it was made using thin layers of beeswax.

This year marks the 150th anniversary of the Civil War. History is often told from the winner’s point of view, but …
The Palouse-Clearwater Environmental Institute http://www.pcei.org/ that I founded 25 years ago, had a weekend fundraiser, “25 chairs for 25 years.” Members of the community signed up to decorate an Adirondack chair, provided by PCEI, parade it around town and at our local farmers’ market, and then attend a live auction. The chairs were art at its best! Take a gander and then get out your tools. You’ll want to do this in your own home town or at least, your backyard to your own chairs.
This photo typifies PCEI … a smart car and lots of bikes parked on our 13 acre campus smack-dab in the middle of town surrounded by houses on all four sides.

Whenever I leave my cozy little burg in off-the-beaten-path Idaho and hit the “seasoned” streets of a mega metropolis, I get a wake up call. People drive like they’re gunning for redemption! San Francisco was a wild ride, lemme tell ya – and then there’s New York, Seattle, and, heck, even Spokane can get me all shook up. If you see a car puttering along in the emergency lane, give me a country wave.

Are you tempted by tidbits of trivia like I am? If so, you’re gonna love this. I got a wild hair to seek out some destinations across the country based on their crazy claims-to-fame. Who comes up with these titles, anyway?
Wouldn’t it be a kick to plan a road trip to every unusual “capital of the world”? I’d send postcards from every one! If you’re game for my game, see if you can match the four “fame claims” below with the cities that boast ’em, then read on to find out if you’re right…
After doting on my big, sweet, injured Great Pyrenees dog for several months, I’m swiftly gaining a whoooole new perspective on pet ownership. Thank heavens, Periwinkle’s broken leg has healed nicely (it took forever because she’s old), and I do adore pampering her … but did I mention how BIG she is??
