First Camping Trip of the Year!

We’ve had the most beautiful weather this past week. While Mom and NannyJane were traveling to a farmgirl glamping gathering in Kansas (stay tuned for their posts), Dad took Mia, me, and our pup camping last weekend.

Flat Stanley’s Field Trip to the Farm

Many of you may have met this guy … or his sister, Flat Suzy …

fs 2

Flat Stanley is a tool for us kids (usually kindergarten through second grade) to connect with others across the country. He is usually sent on a trip (via mail) to another part of the country by a student to another student. When he arrives, he has pictures taken of all the activities he enjoys in a new place. Sometimes, he gets new attire or accessories on his trip, too.

Flat Stanley, who will be celebrating his 50th year in 2014, was originally a children’s book published in 1964 by Jeff Brown. His story goes like this:

“When Stanley Lambchop wakes up one morning, his brother, Arthur, is yelling. A bulletin board fell on Stanley during the night, and now he is only half an inch thick!

Amazing things begin happening to him. Stanley gets rolled up, mailed, and flown like a kite. He even gets to help catch two dangerous art thieves. He may be flat, but he’s a hero!”

I received him all the way from Kansas from my friend, Alexa (we share the same birthday). Alexa is a farmgirl for sure, so we knew he’d enjoy a visit to the farm. Here’s a snippet of Flat Stanley’s day with us …

Silly Farmgirls!!

We made Mom and NannyJane laugh pretty hard when we sent a portrait of ourselves to them while they were at work this past week!

Sisters are the best ever! We used the Aviary Sticker App for an IPhone. Doesn’t Mia look good in a sombrero??

Farmgirls in NYC, Days 5 & 6

On our last two days in the city, we got to what all girls gotta do, a little shopping!! We had saved up our chore and birthday money so we could visit the biggest toy store in the world, FAO Schwarz. It was crazy!

FAO ShwarzWe had the hardest time deciding what to pick … but the life-size piano was pretty cool, and Mom says one of her favorite movies from a real long time ago was filmed there—the movie Big with Tom Hanks. I certainly wasn’t around that long ago.

Showroom linens

This is the showroom where we display samples of what we’d like to sell next season. My favorite comforter was the one on this bed.

Farmgirls in the City, Day 3

Mia and I loved New York City! We could have spent the entire week in Central Park. At first, we thought it was a forest and couldn’t believe that new playgrounds kept popping up everywhere.

Central Park Rock

A forest surrounded by skyscrapers.

Hiking on all these nice paved trails is much easier than in our forests back home.

Farmgirls in the City, Day 2

One of our aunties attended college in New York City. When we were babies, she gave us a book all about the city. It was part of a whole series of children’s books about different cities across the world. We LOVE our NYC book.

Farmgirls Visit the City

Twice a year, manufacturers and retailers—people that buy, sell, and make linens (sheets, towels, bed sets, aprons, etc.) come from all over the world and meet in New York City. This means my daddy and sometimes my mommy and Nanny Jane get to travel from our wonderful and quiet little Moscow, Idaho, to the big and bustling city of Manhattan. This year, my spring break just so happened to be the same week that my dad was scheduled for his bi-annual trip, so we signed up to go, too!!

My mom, sister, and I had a blast in the big city!

National Tooth Fairy Day??

Boy, did I luck out? Apparently, according to Nanny Jane and my mom, today is National Tooth Fairy Day. What a close one! Guess who visited two days ago? But what if I’d lost it last night and she’d been on vacation? Is it like the garbage truck that sometimes takes days to catch up after a holiday or does she just skip the day all together?

Either way, it was awfully good timing to jump on that trampoline at the birthday party. Although we did almost lose my tooth in the birthday balloons, my tooth made it safely under my pillow and the wonderful tooth fairy did sneak in and leave me a gold dollar coin and a trail of her glitter dust. So on her day today, I am still covered in glitter and my smile is missing a tooth, but I just wanted to say thanks, Tooth Fairy. Hope you are having a grand day!
