I connect to the nostalgia of Mary Janes Farm because it reminds me of summers at my grandparent’s house. I would get to spend a few weeks there each summer and it was magical. My grandfather and I would build and repair things in his workshop and my grandmother and I would bake, cook, sew, crochet, and embroider. Together we would work in the garden raising flowers and vegetables. the vegetables would be either canned or frozen for during the winter. My grandmother made a number of feedsack aprons as well as sweet doll clothes both of which I treasure dearly.

I am a Farm Girl at heart, even though I don’t have any farm animals. I connect with MaryJanesFarm / flour sacks nostalgia because I lived some of those years.
I enjoy creating through sewing and repurposing items. I can still hear the screen door slamming shut.

When I found Mary Jane’s magazine on the magazine rack in a local health food store, I found the magazine for me.
The great eclectic articles hold my interest and I read cover to cover and learn and just plain enjoy it all.

Thank you so much for this outstanding read. It has given me hours of pleasure.

  5. Marie Dollarhide says:

I love the flour sacks from long ago. They did not just creat clothes, guilts but they created a lasting friendship for women. It was a time when things were rough for women and they had the Faith and strength to move ahead. I cherish those special moments women shared. These were our Mom’s and Grandma’s God Bless them all.
