Rachel said:
“I pre-ordered your glamping book because a few months ago I purchased a 1968 Frolic camper that we are now in the process of restoring. Once it is done, I can’t wait to take her out and go glamping. I have already made blankets and pillows; the curtains and towels are on the list to be done. The whole idea of a comfortable getaway is very thrilling.”

Just a word about WHY we didn’t draw the name while on the road: “Stay tuned right here for my drawing that will take place in a glampground, somewhere between here and the Black Hills of South Dakota—streaming live from my Airstream.” I took a printer for my laptop with me on our odyssey. For the first part of our trip, everything worked like a charm, until that one big bump in the road near Dillon, Montana, that sent my printer flying from its designated place and onto the floor of my Airstream, plastic parts everywhere. Amazingly, once I got it home and put it back together, the thing fired up and still works. If you’re looking for a beyond-sturdy printer, I paid $60 for a Brother HL2240. What a great traveling companion it proved to be.

“One busy, hectic afternoon in my house, I sat down to take a quick peek at Glamping. Over two hours later, I was still reading, blissfully lost in MaryJane’s beautiful world. I’m dying over this book. I absolutely, positively LOVE IT!”

Glamping in my ’68 Airstream. Renovation details in book!

  1. Cynthia O'Neil says:

I preordered the book so I can have inspiration for fixing up a vintage camper as a rolling writing studio for myself. I received the magazine as a gift from my niece, and paid it forward in a gift to my old college roomie. If I were chosen for the Glamping trip I would bring my niece. We are a year apart, 45 and 46, and are more like sisters than aunt and niece. We share so much, a love for the outdoors, gardening, and creating. We also share Lupus, which runs in our family. I recently had a pacemaker put in, and she also struggles with a mitochondrial disorder. We keep on keepin’ on! She lives in MI, and I live in SC. We keep in touch everyday, but haven’t seen each other in almost 20 years. A Glamping trip is just what the doctor ordered!

  2. Mary Lynne Ohnemus says:

I’m so busy with being a farmgirl that glamping is my mentality and not my activity. What a wonderful way to REALLY live!

  3. Mary Lynne Ohnemus says:

Glamping is my way of life!

  4. Wendy says:

    You inspire me!

  5. Michelle Conley says:

I love your magazine! our Girl Scouts have yet to camp ( my co-leader is not quite the outdoorsy type :)-) ……I cracked up when I got my “Glamping” issue of MJF!!! I instantly thought of her! Maybe if I show her how fun camping, sorry, Glamping can be…..with your “Glamour + Camping” book, .she’ll be more apt to go with us for Girl Scouts! Keep doing what your doing, love the organic, recycling articles! As soon as I get more “me” time, I’d love to join the Sisterhood and earn badges for me! Thank you!

  6. MJ -Any chance I’ll be able to buy a digital copy on my Nook? or the audiobook on iTunes? I love, love, love listening to my Lifebook on iTunes…Love ya, karen

    • MaryJane says:

You wouldn’t believe how complicated this ebook thing is and how it’s changed or broadened my tech-speak vocab. But the bottom line is this: in order for it to flow into the different ebook applications, it has to get seriously dumbed down, as in text, photo, text, photo, text, photo, text, photo, text, photo. Are you bored yet? I am. I put pages and pages of film strip how-to photos of how to renovate a trailer, build a glamp cot, folding table, etc. I layered content onto vintage wallpaper, little faces on the sidelines saying cheesy things, etc. All that would need to disappear. We looked at other hard-copy books somewhat similar to mine that were converted and they are essentially just the recipes or just the intro and none of the fun stuff that I poured my heart into. I’m this close to saying no because I just don’t think enough people will buy it and be happy with it to justify essentially designing another book. Boohoo, I know, but once you see my book you’ll GET what I’m saying. That said, I can’t wait for Karen England to see my book!!!! I’ve only received two copies so far or I’d share.

However, my magazine is on iPad, essentially the exact same pages. So maybe just iPad and not Nook and Kindle, etc. Too weird to make my book one-size-fits-all.

  7. Shirley Jean Coker says:

I pre-ordered your book because: I was a single mother of 7 and raised my children on a farm. I am now a grandmother of 27 and great grandmother of 20. I just bought my first ‘Glamper’. Her name is Chloe, she’s a 14′ 1940’s DeVille….and I LOVE her. I can hardly wait to clean her up, trick her out in Shabby Chic, and go somewhere with my sister. We’re in our 70’s & on the backside of life. We must get in as much living as possible and I can’t imagine anything more rewarding for me, after all these years of service to others, as for my sister and I to be pampered at MaryJanes Farm. Wow!! Thank you for being such an inspiration to young…..and old!!

  8. Megan Wilson says:

I’m going camping soon, and would love to show off some glamping frills! Thanks to your book, I can!

  9. I have always loved going camping and have been camping all my 41 years with family and friends. Glamping just took it up a notch and I fell in love with it when Sherry Jesperson would share her pictures. My mother and I have gone through some tough stuff, she has always been healthy as a horse but 2 years ago almost died after having the swine flu and it then attacked her heart. She’s steady these days and back at it with her miniature cattle and we work together on our Morgan Horses. But if I won this, I would take her for the glamping vacation of her dreams. It seems we have always put work first and I would love for us to just get away and have that time. I love the magazine, your projects and other books, so knew I’d love this.

  10. I pre-ordered your book because all your books give me a chance to dream. They just make me happy, MJ!

  11. Kristi A Groth says:

I ordered your book because I know I will love it as much as I love your other books. I am inspired by you. I appreciate the fact that you are so willing to live out loud through your books and magazines. Thank you

  12. Bonnie Walker says:

Because I have ordered magazines, bought many, many (and have some of the first copies) and have followed you for years. Because I use Mary Jane sheets, bedspreads, and quilts on my White Iron Bed. Because I love your style, books, products, personality, and because we ordered Sweet Lena Iris from your farm, which bloom every year beautifully. But, Mary Jane, mostly because my sweet hubby who personally ordered those iris, planted them, and tended them, along with 25 Heirloor roses around his veggie garden….because….he died, and I would so love to come and heal alittle more going ‘glamping’ in his beloved Northwest. I can’t think of anything i would rather do, right now, for me, for him…..and to meet new friends, be exposed to your creative, industrious spirit. Thank you for this opportunity, and I have ordered my book. On Amazon.

  13. Cathy Hudson says:

Ordered the glamping book the moment I heard of it! I have a little piece of heaven vintage trailer that I love warts and all! Maryjanes farm has had my attention since the second issue of the magazine (didn’t get in on the premier issue):( love all of it!! Fingers crossed:)

  14. GwendolynL says:

I ordered it for my mother who raves about your writings; she says I will also.

  15. Sheneen Wilson says:

I so love this magazine. I look forward to all the reciepes and crafts and so much more. I have not been camping since I was a kid. I so love the idea of camping out in the counrty.

  16. Nancee McPherson says:

Love your magazine. I was actually looking for Sisters of the Trail and your book came up with it. So of course I ordered it!

  17. Jenn Marcil says:

I ordered your book because your magazine is like a breath of fresh air to me. I love to be inspired to live a better life, in many different ways. I feel a kindred connection and crave for more. The farm girl community is a little reprieve in the day to day life in the suburbs. ;0)

  18. Carol S. says:

I love all of your books and magazines. I read your idea book, cookbook and life book at least once a year. You are a true adventuress like I am and I love your life and what you have made of it! I will love reading your new Glamping book – and would love to experience it.

  19. Libby Fields says:

I ordered your new book because I have all of the other ones and they are awesome!

  20. Betty S says:

Camping is not my style..but glamping could be..

  21. ginger martin says:

Looking forward to glamping!!!! I love the magazine and am sure the book will be just as great.

  22. Diane Carothers says:

I pre-ordered your book because it looks like so much fun! Maybe I could get my husband to do camping my way next time.

  23. Joy says:

What’s not to love about anything you do? I sure hope I am the lucky winner as this is right near our anniversary and we really wanted to do something special this summer for our 10 year but kids and my parents and a son getting married.. well, let’s just say it didn’t happen. I’d love to spend it with you.

  24. Annie Davis says:

I gleefully pre-ordered the Glamping book from Amazon because I am SO anticipating the freedom it will help me find in my little camper…one I’ve waited 50 years to get. The smell of the pines, the rush of the mountain streams, the whinnying of my horses in camp….I am relaxing already! I am a hard-working first grade teacher who uses the summers to recharge…and thanks to Mary Jane and her fabulous free-thinking farm ways, I am re-discovering just how to best use my vacation time. Thanks Mary Jane!

  25. Gwendaleigh says:

Why did I order the book? That’s easy….the pretty pictures!

  26. Karen Elizabeth Brown says:

I just happened to pick up your book at the Sun Market in Salt Lake City, Utah 84103

It is the very best magazine on the market. It truly fill your soul with thoughtful, wonderful ways to make our lives a lot happier,I have the rolling pin up hanging on the side of the cubboard. People always look at it and want to know if their name is on it. always try to find their name on it. It meant the most to me while Ii was doing it. I realized that women need women. They need ideas and they . need praise for rall they do to make a good life for their
family. As a familu we have truly strugles thes last years. My husband dale was diagnosed with cancer a month before he died at the same time our oldest daughter Stephanie was diagnosed with a large brain tumor. I can’t begin to tell you how terrified I was. As we waited in hospitals we had your Mary Janes Books and magazines the restored our souls and gave us something good to ponder on.
I remember looking at those camp tents and feeling peace. I dreamed I would go there
When it was all over. Sink in one of those tubs , listen to night sounds and get away from the world. When you become a widow you lose half of yourself for awhile. You are not first to anyone anymore. Everyone of your children have their own life and problems. And you don.t want to be intruding every minute. So I have gone on and learned to do everything and I”m darn good at what I do. I am 70 years old and you are on my Bucket List of things to do before you die.

  27. Dana Okerman says:

This book could not have come out at a better time. My husband and I just bought an older camper that will have to be gutted and redone. We are planning on turning it into our “dream log cabin”. Any camping we’ve done in the past has been in a tent and we are super excited not to sleep on the ground anymore! We also have been invited to be in a camping weekend that consists of several of his high school buddies and their families next year so we have a goal and deadline. I’m really looking forward to getting my book so I can start incorporating ideas and learn more about glamping!

  28. carol brisco says:

love camping and adore your books!!!

  29. Courtney Cassidy says:

…Because I love your books and know that this one will be just a wonderful! Whenever I read your books (which is not always as often as I’d like because my friends are always borrowing them!) I just feel good. It feels right to “travel” to your farm, swing on that snow-covered swing or lounge around in your “how-to” homemade hammock. I live in a city, so your books are my “transport” to my dream world!

  30. Can’t wait to get this outrageous book on girlie girl camping! Makes me smile with delight!! I mean camping in your prom dress???? This is a gotta have book for me.

  31. Eileen Widman says:

Because I am A friend of Mary Jane and have been for a very long time and because I love the work she is doing!

  32. I was at the farm girl convention 4 years ago in Coeur d’Alene, got to go to the Grand opening of the Mary Jane’s farm Store. Sadly I had to leave the morning that every one heading out to Mary Jane’s Farm, I was so sorry I missed it. I would love to come spend a few days there with my wonderful husband. I pre-ordered the book because I love all things Mary Jane and I have most of her other books. I also have a 1968 trailer that i have already been working on glaming up. I am so excited to see the ideas in the book and incorporate them in my glamper.

  33. Rebecca White says:

I look forward to your magazines for all the interesting things that you create, do, & share with us all.

  34. Tureic Cordis says:

Coming across your magazine many years back reinspired me to get back to my roots. I have since enlisted my 3 grown daughters and we love all things “Mary Jane”. I have all your other books and magazines. Your caramel corn is a holiday tradition at our house and my kitchen chalkboard dons your mantra “Use it up, wear it out, make it do or do without”. Can’t wait for my pre-ordered glamping book to arrive. Love, love, love

  35. calle says:

    Dear Mary Jane and family.

We would love to win, but right now we can not order anything. We were one of 14 families that lost all in the Norden Nebraska 72,000 acre range fire. We lost two dear campers and our cottage. I so wanted to fix up the 1950’s mini to join the Sisterhood of the Flying Cowgirls and you. For some reason I thought it was in your magazine but stress of our total loss plus my two dear kitties has fried my short term memories. I had so much of the stuff you have in your beautiful tents. I mourn our loss and will look forward to your book when I have a place to keep it. We have 5000 trees to cut and new trees to plant. Right now I can not look at your lovely magazine as I sob for the lifestyle that was coming about .

Please all pray for rain as the fires continue and those volunteer fire fighter ranchers put their lives in harms way for others.

All our wildlife died and I so miss the song birds. The fires reached between 3000 and 4000 degrees. Fused all of my caste iron with melted glass and all the granite ware melted together. So ladies make plans for the drought and protect your families, pets and those things that you love and make our lives more like our leader, Mary Jane.

    • MaryJane says:

This is just heartbreaking, Calle. Can you make a long list of things you need that Sisters can send your way? Replacements, anything. Do you have storage for things or would STUFF at this point just be another burden? We could engineer this online like a wedding registry.

Don’t worry about your memory. It will return. I lost my home in a fire in 1996. My short-term memory was totally gone for a while. I couldn’t even remember my name sometimes when people asked. When I drove to town, I’d break out in a cold sweat because I couldn’t remember why I’d driven to town or where I was going. It’s called shock and overload. Love helps. But it is a slow process. How may we send some love your way? Where are you staying? (We were in a hotel for a few weeks so stuff would have added to my overload.) Let me know.

    • Cinda Peterson - #2308 says:

      Dear Calle,
Your story has truly touched my heart; and I would like to know how I can order Mary Jane’s book for you – what address should I have it shipped to you? If you want to let Mary Jane’s office know, they can look up my sisterhood information and contact me with your info. When things calm down for you, and you feel like a “little vacation”, this could be a nice break for you. Our best wishes and Heavenly Father’s biggest blessings are being sent your way as you recover from this experience…

  36. Melissa Jane says:

Because I must have a complete collection of MaryJanes! And also because I have a wee vintage trailer to restore and don’t know where to start. Can’t wait for Glamping!

  37. Natalie says:

It is simply irresistible! With a title of “Glamping” I had to pre-order your book. The first stage of my life was just camping, BUT the second stage of my life is most definitely “Glamping”

  38. tina nebergall says:

    I love your magazine!

  39. Llahoma jackson says:

Because Ive fallen in love with all your other books, magazines, and the sisterhood! When Sisters on the Fly came out I feel in love with Glamping, but still too nervous about buying a trailer…hope this will help my dreams become reality. Just dream of sharing all these beautiful trips and moments with my little girl.

  40. Debra VanDenBeg says:

Been loving your magazine for years now. Love your other books. I am sister #1072 from “Sisters on the Fly”. This book is a must have for my library.
    Deb

  41. Carmella Mongiardo says:

It was the red and silver camper that did it. Remember the darling thing? It was featured some years ago in Mary Jane’s Farm magazine. I tore that page out and carried it with me where ever I went. It was my dream to own it, I’d tell friends and family, as I showed them the picture. “Just look at it! So sleek; and look at that wood trim!” Someday, I told them, I’ll get on the road, wind in hair, heart floating in the stars! The sky’s the limit, I’ll shout over my shoulder, as I wave goodbye!
    *
Then, with a sign from as sweet and sad a place as a girl can have, I’d tuck my worn page back in it’s folder to bring out another time. It’s still there and I’m still here. A farmgirl in a city full of cement, glass, and cars. Well, I won’t have it I tell you! I’ll buy the book! I’ll grasp the dream! And this time….I won’t let go!

  42. MARILYN P. STALEY says:

  43. Cinda Peterson - #2308 says:

First of all…thank you so much Mary Jane for making the offer to give us all the opportunity to help out Calle – her post has truly touched my heart! I was amazed at the news last night about how many fires are blazing right now – makes me wonder if we have other Farmgirl Sisters going through her same experience.

Second…Besides the fact that we ALL LOVE everything Mary Jane, I’m very grateful that we’ve just had the opportunity to acquire a roomy canvas dome tent with plenty of great space to “glam”. This is perfect timing because I was wondering what I want to do with this space. Thanks a BIG BUNCH for all the hard work and creativity you and your staff so lovingly share with us!!

  44. Mary Jane chapin says:

    Hi!
I can’t wait to receive your new book on Glamping. This is something I love to do with my own glammed up little camper and am so thrilled with the great response that everyone is having about glamping! Thank you Mary Jane for spreading the glamping love!

  45. Cindy says:

My two oldest daughters have just graduated college; one I moved last week to the midwest, and the other, I will help move at the end of this month to NYC! I just settled my youngest, my son who is a sophomore at college a bit south of our home, into his fraternity house yesterday. Their young lives ahead of them, they are so excited, nervous, thrilled beyond words, to be whirling toward the many adventures ahead; I am just as excited for them and for all they will see and do and learn!! Amidst all our moving about though, I found a quiet moment for coffee and my computer and Mary Jane’s website! When I saw the book, I knew instantly I had to place the order, as it is now time for my next new exciting adventure to begin!!!!

  46. Roxy says:

I ordered your book through an independent small-town bookstore – my mother is the shop proprietor! And I ordered it because all my life I’ve wanted a little airstream camper to refurbish and when your book preview came out, I fell in love. I told my husband I wanted one for Christmas. I can’t wait!!

  47. YogaMomma says:

I have 3 little farmgirls-in-the-making and I want them to hold on to their natural instinct to love being in nature. This book looks like it will motivate me to get out to the woods more often and help me have more fun with it all.

  48. LindaKay Freeland says:

I have subscribed to MaryJane’s magazine for almost 4 years and already have the three other books she has published. I am so looking forward to MaryJane’s newest book I pre-ordered it from Amazon.com. The life style that MaryJane writes about and her contributors are just what I was looking for when I found the magazine. I now have three laying hens and have enjoyed their antics this past 1 1/2 year. Even though we live in town my husband built them a L-shaped run and hen house. I have been a “farmgirl” all my life but always lived in town, but grew up with othe relatives living on their farms in Minnesota. Keep up the good work MaryJane and staff I always look forward to the next magazine

  49. Carolyn says:

I ordered your book because I need an escape from ordinary life and ordinary vacations. I am a farmgirl at heart and I don’t know why. It’s inside of me, but why? It’s an urge. A yearning. But I grew up in the suburbs. My friends and family are not the camping/glamping type. It might be time to buy a old teardrop, fix it up, and camp on my own. And when that happens…Oh, what a camp site it will be.

  50. Lynn says:

I purchased 2 Glamping books, one for my glamping friend and one for myself.
We both have campers and have gone glamping together.
