  18. I subscribed to Hobby Farms magazines, and a flier from Mary Jane’s Farm showed up sometime later. I didn’t subscribe then, but I did see it in a bookstore, so I bought one. Eventually, I got tired of trying to find it in stores and subscribed! I do love everything in the magazine, even though I might not be able to use everything.

I used to read Martha Stewart Living for the same reason. . .but it’s not “Martha” anymore. But MJF is “Mary Jane,” and I greatly appreciate getting this magazine. I have indeed used some things, but I’m not yet a full-on “farm girl.” But I’m working on it, even if it confuses my boyfriend to no end!

Way back when there were still independent stores that sold periodicals and coffee, I found the bread magazine (or apron magazine, I no longer remember which). I fell in love. I went to the web site to discover that you could not yet get a subscription, you received a magazine with each purchase you made from the farm. I made a purchase (I don’t remember what now) and begged to be let know when the next issue would come out (it wasn’t yet regularly published). I have gotten every issue since then and never looked back. My magazines are in special magazine boxes on the same shelf with my fabric and other craft supplies, each one with pages marked of projects to makes and tasty goods to bake.
