Raising a healthy Jane (or just being a healthy grown-up Jane) comes from good food and proper nutrition. Grab your aprons, I’m on kitchen duty with food to spare and recipes to share! When time allows, here’s where you’ll find one of my how-to-convert-to-an-organic-diet recipes.
Ahh, and the walnuts are so-o-o good!
Walnuts are so delicious and work in so many ways. I made some basil pesto this weekend using walnuts and served it over whole wheat pasta. So yummy.
love, love, love walnuts!!

We made a new friend on our final-days-of-summer camping trip in the “smoky mountains.” (Idaho has been plagued with wildfires these past few weeks.)

Meg,
I am so happy that you and the girls had a such a good time! YES! I remember Hot Lava! Ahh….the games we play- so simple and silly yet so FUN! I have my glamping tent set up in the back yard, and my DD and I have managed 2 sleepouts out there in the past week. I am lovin Fall glampin! Makes me wish even more that I had a wall tent with a woodstove, so I could glamp all winter! (of course some of my friends and family think I’ve lost my mind!)
Thanks for sharing.
Hugs,
Laurie
Sounds great! I love camping in the fall. The smells are awesome; leaves turning are beautiful; and fishing is chilly but relaxing!!!
What a great weekend everyone had! I never heard about the game hot lava before but it sounds like fun and most likely challenging. It is always good to get out into nature and enjoy all there is. After being away from the city and routine, we can reflect on just how precious Mother Nature is and it allows us to remember to be considerate of her in our daily lives.
I can smell the smoke in the air Meg…and I can see the stars in that big western sky too! Oh how I miss the wide open west.. Cherish those momma moments now, ya hear?
Hugs,
Your beach sister!
Deb
Wow, this looks so yummy and simple. What a great idea for chicken breast!
We watched the farmer next to our house harvest his wheat a couple of days ago. Mia waved and yelled, “Thank you, farmer!” as he drove by in his combine.

mia is beautiful~~~
It’s hard to believe that our little StellaJane started school this morning! To all of you embarking on the same, we hope your first day of school is a perfectly beautiful one!
What an adorable photo of little StellaJane’s first day! It is so exciting for both Mom and daughter. A true milestone.
Oh my she favors you! So precious!
Oh, my goodness! Time has flown. I still have her height on the wall in my dining room from when you were here. She was just a bit of a thing then. 🙂 I hope she had a fabulous day!
I’m jealous as I just lugged inside (the house) a lot of tropical plants that I couldn’t bare to see go to waste. Realize this is somewhat of an older post but I’m hoping you will see it anyway. Just before I decided to bring in all of these tender perennials & tropical plants I researched building cold frames & such. The cold frame seems easy enough to make but the heating/regulation/ventilating has me stumped. Do you know of any natural way (besides sunlight) to keep a cold frame warm? Do you have fans, heaters & thermostats in your greenhouse? Do you grow your own…{~} all winter long? For now, I just hope to keep my tenders & tropical plants alive but the heating requirement seems taxing. Although I saw where one fellow had used nothing but a tea light or small candle in his cold frame & it actually kept the snow from forming on the glass of the cold frame & when he went to check on his seedlings they looked fine?
Hi Elizabeth,
Will get back to you on the greenhouse next week. I’m on the road. Sorry.
