  10. I love so many desserts. My hubbie is a killer baker. He makes a blueberry basil pie that is to die for which has to be one of my favs. Another is his cranberry walnut pie. Oh and anything with apples. It is so hard to pick just one!

    Home grown apples made into Fresh Apple Pie!!! This is one of my favorite desserts. The top crust can be made to reflect what Holiday it is or special occasion; the heart-shaped cookie cutters will work great for this. I usually have more than enough for several apple pies, so I just get busy and bake all that I can, cool them off, wrap them up for the freezer and use as dessert and gifts. I enjoy the MaryJanes Farm magazine very much and look forward to the next addition. Thank you.

    My all time favorite dessert is “Mama Ruth Pound Cake” and who will tell if I confess to having a slice for breakfast, lunch and dinner? I have been making this cake for over 20 years and it is certainly a family favorite! A slice of pound cake, served with a center heart of cherries would be lovely for Valentines Day.     I love my cast iron skillets and dutch oven. My mom only cooked with cast iron. Pan fried hamburgers on a cold wet day, so good! My favorite dessert in a cast iron skillet is my grandmother’s Pineapple Upside Down Cakes. She made it in a cast iron skillet, so did my mom, and now I do the same. I’ve taken 2 of the cakes to family reunions and they both were eaten-nothing left.

    Pie!! Yummy!! That’s the first dessert I baked with my grandma! In later years she would say mine were better than hers. What a wonderful compliment from the best baker I knew!!

    My grandma’s German Chocolate cake, with the cooked coconut pecan icing. It was six layers! Loved it. I make it at least once a year.

    Bread pudding, pineapple upside-down cake, and oatmeal cake with broiled topping – I have my mother’s recipes for each, and after going through a very long chocolate phase, at age 73 I’m returning to these. In fact, today I intend to try to make a gluten-free pineapple upside-down cake.

    Man, I have two favorites. My grandma’s chocolate cream and strawberry pies. I remember going down to visit for a reunion and grandma would make 1 chocolate pie. (There are a lot more women than men in my family) She finally had to make 2 chocolate pies and my mother and aunt always had a piece saved. Her strawberry pie was awesome when we would visit in the summer. I miss her.

  43. Most Loved Dessert is Home made ice cream hand cranked by my Grandpa. My Cousins and I couldn’t wait for just a small scoop (as there were many of us). My Grandma would always have cookies or brownies to serve on the side!
